Hi, I have a 89 Iroc with a 350 thats not stock and has been rebuilt by the po, with a high cam and been bored .30 over. I ha e had a problem with since I got it. When driving on a warm or hot day after 20 minutes of driving or so when I come to a stop it will either die or almost and catch itself but it wont do it ever time I stop. I have replaced the iac, maf, injectors, fuel pump regulator, tps, 160 thermostat, new plugs and wires, fuel pump. In the winter I can drive it all I want without it trying to die, which baffles me more because its not overheating. So I could use some help

 

Mine does the same thing every now, and then as I slow to go around a corner, it will just die for no reason, starts right back up, does not do it all the time any ideas???? L98 TPI 1992 model...

 

im having a similar problem which my v6, im on this message board because im looking to buy a gta with a 350 tpi next week, mine is caused by a vacuum leak in the intake manifold, causing the maf to get false readings

 

check for vacuum leaks ,set timing to factory spec, then
do a search for the procedure to adjust the tps and base idle.
also u need a tune for a big cam.

 

best tool my mechanic has is a stephoscope, if you can get ahold of one there is ones made for hearing engine problems listen around the erg and the intake manifold, we managed to find my vacuum leak in less than a minute, if you hear a giant sucking noise then you know the problem

 

i have somewhat the same thing going on.. i replaced everything you did and it didnt help... i just seen this on auto zone web site gonna pick one up this weekend.. throttle position sensor read what it says on there web site if the sensor goes bad....
