Coolant temp sensor question! Tunerpro RT

So i had my car Hooked up to my laptop using tunerpro RT.

I was trying to diagnose a bad idle situation, Lots of fluctuation in air/fuel and what sounds like timing.

It picks and chooses very randomly how it wants to run.

One minute it will run well, idle will even out, then it just DROPS. Starts to stink of rich exhaust. It even stalls.

--------The the coolant temp that the ECM was getting was 244 steadily, even when the car was cold. So i know thats bad.

Could that be causing all of this?!

I have replaced the ignition coil, cap, wires, plugs, TPS, IAC, ignition control module, pickup.

Ohm checked all injectors, theyre fine.
i have sufficient fuel pressure at the rail.
base timing has been set to 6* btc.
Minimum Air setting was set
Tps is at .54 v
Sprayed out MAF

Havent checked 02, knock sensor, MAF burn-off relay or power relay, or the ESC module.

CAN THE BAD COOLANT TEMP SENSOR CAUSE ALL OF THIS?! thanks!

Yes, yes it can.

If the CTS value never changed then it should be replaced. You are lucky; that's an easy fix.

Good luck

Think about it.
If the ECM doesn't know what temp engine is at ; how can it supply correct fuel and spark.

Most parts shops have them , same sensor is used in TPI , TBI and LT1 engines

Going by your other post
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tech...se-help-2.html

you are confused about which sensor you want .
The one you say is not working is the cold start switch for the 9th injector ; not the coolant temp sensor (CTS)

NAPA auto parts has em. under $20 ... just put one in the camaro, now I think the GTA needs one ... getting code 33, put a new MAF in last year .... after a long ride, it started acting up, may just do an O2 and a CTS.

Try the O2 sensor the coolant sensor is not your problem.
