VSS question

Im in the process of swapping a SD TPI harness into my car. The harness that I have has the connector that goes to the electric speedo within the trans for VSS and an electric speedo. How can I use my current setup that has a mechanical speedo and vss buffer attached to the back with this harness while keeping the ecm happy.

Re: VSS question

you can use the speed buffer signal 2k ppm and input it to the 730's b10, this will require you to change the check sum in the eprom to optical vss. The 4k directly to pin b9 and b10 will work but since you will need to get your vats reprogrammed out of the memcal.

I have all the stuff to reprogram so that is not an issue. First what location is the checksum at and what does it need to be set to/from? Second, what do I have to repin in the harness? Put the input (output from optical vss) to pin b10 on the 730, and what goes on b9?

Re: VSS question

I assume you have a 1227165 it would be a10 to the 730 b10 I am not sure of the address of the change from magnetic enabled to disabled I have tunercat and you just uncheck the enabled magnetic vss box. I am out of town right now and will post it on tuesday if you like or if you ask user rbob I'm sure he knows right away.

Re: VSS question

Yes I have the 165 ecm in the car now and will be going to the 730. The 730 harness has the vss at the trans where mine is on the back of speedo and was not sure how to get the signal from the speedo to the ecm. I use tunerpro rt but have not tried or even looked at the bins or xdf files yet. Want to get the harness in order first. For all I know it may a flag in the xdf. None the less, if you can get me that location and what the value is, that would be great.

So b9 and b10 on the 730 harness would have to go to the dash harness connector that is connected to the vss input and ground. On the 730 ecm, connector b11 is the vss output. Is that the wire used by the speedo to indicate speed?

Re: VSS question

on optical setup yes, when used a magnetic b9 is a ground. I am fooling around now and looking at the change it actually changes alot of the address. want to pm me with your email address maybe its better I just send you a aujp with no vats and the magnetic vss turned off. I have everything now loaded onto this computer.

Re: VSS question

Thanks. Just taking a quick glance, it looks like values 3-8 are the only ones that are changed.
