OK.. so here is the story. I am building a 68 international scout. The only thing left international is the body.
anywhoo.
383 4 bolt roller block with world S/R torquer heads. 67 c.c. chambers. flat toppers giving it around 9.5:1.
HR-276-2S-12 IG Hydraulic Roller Camshaft for Chevrolet 1987-1999 V-8, 305-350 http://www.cranecams.com/product/car...detail&p=24207
Comp promag roller rockers
hooker comp. long tube headers.
The intake is a brand new, never fired (bought directly from GM) 1986 corvette TPI upper, lower, runners and injectors. It does have an adjustable fuel reg and all new sensors.
It has been converted to MAP with an 'affordable fuel injection' wiring harness and ECM.
My question: I'm about to start it and I'm reading some stuff that tells me that its not gonna breath for crap and lay down at 3500 rpm.
Gobs of torque from idle though..
I need to know what I might be doing wrong before I start this motor and melt it.
anywhoo.

Sorry I can't help with the engine problem but it's kinda funny, Iv'e got a 73 Scout, 472 cad, twin Rajay's, at545 (Allison) H110 rear 11000lb with discs, napco 1 1/2 ton front, 64" chevy rear springs, 56" fronts, 18000lb Braiden hyd winch, remote 205. She's not all together yet but I call her my cheap or free project, so far Iv'e got less than $400.00 invested, I'm guessing about $2000.00 when I'm done, won't make any magazine covers but who cares! Good luck with your engine.

Re: One of many "what have I got myself into" threads.
.. The engine won't "melt" down, but it also won't make much additional HP past about 4500-4700 RPMs with the stock TPI setup which was designed to work well on a 305" engine... it'll rev on to 6500, just with decreasing torque... the TPI 350's did the same thing when new... just take one for a test drive if you want to see how it works...
.. Depends on how you were intending to use it whether it's what you want...
.. An Accel SuperRam or Holley Stealth/Street Ram would give a fat torque curve over the 2500 - 6200 RPM power range of that high lift 214/222 cam...
.. See the 'Super Rod' thread 'sticky' above for a comparison of the various TPI/EFI setups...
