Unplugged FP relay, now dead pump.

So I was about to change my fuel filter and to bleed off the pressure in the lines I unplugged the fuel pump relay so it would stop the pump. The car died obviously and then I plugged the relay back in. Then I changed the filter and when I turned the key forward to prime the pump I heard nothing. I did it several more times and still no pump turning on. I could however still hear the relay clicking. So somehow I've lost power to my pump...? I checked the fuse in the little holder near the battery and it's fine.

Any suggestions?

Put 12V to pin G of the ALDL plug ( with relay in place ) to see if the pump runs
If not , a problem with pump

Remove relay ,Check for 12V (Org wire ) at relay connector (key off )
if no power , fusible link has likely blown

If power @ relay ,jumper that wire to grey wire and see if pump runs.
If so ,relay is faulty

Ok, which pin is G on the ALDL plug and what is the best way to go about running 12v to it...a wire from the positive side of the battery?

I feel like I should also mention that I have already gone out and gotten a new pump and swapped it in (PO hackjob access door) and the new pump does not seem to do anything as well.

I have also tried switching the 3 relays around to see if any of the others worked, and still nothing.

But have you checked to see
if you have power from batt at the relay connector as I outlined above?
Jumper the connector to confirm wiring to pump is sound ?
Process of confirm and eliminate until you narrow down the problem

Ok so I have 12V at the orange wire at the relay, and when I jump orange to grey I can hear the pump run! So it's a faulty relay? Even though I can still hear it clicking?

Either that or a faulty connector.

Re: Unplugged FP relay, now dead pump.

Would it be a bad idea to keep that jumper in and drive the car up the road to the parts place to get a new relay?

Re: Unplugged FP relay, now dead pump.

Your missing the point, switching the relay isnt solving the problem. The connector the relay plugs into is where your having issues.Fix the connector or cut the connector off and crimp all new spade terminals on each wire and plug them onto the relay.Just be sure to write down where each wire goes to the relay first.

Or do a hot wire fuel pump relay upgrade like racetronix etc when you put in a real fuel pump like the wahlbro 255 and not have to worry about fuel wiring again.

Separate to the connection problem the others are outlining above

A relay has 2 separate circuits; one that operates the relay and the one that is switched on;
it is quite possibly for the relay to close correctly ( the clicking part )
but no power to pass through because of bad/ worn contacts

Make sure you push every wire into the connector as mine tend to back out when I plug the connector into the relay.

Re: Unplugged FP relay, now dead pump.

Got it working I pushed all the wires up into the connector but I feel like there will be a reliability issue in the back of mind my mind all the time while I'm driving so I'm gonna re-do the pigtail still.
