stock 89 tpi intake

i am looking for new heads after relizing i dont want to spend 500 on a vortec intake. all the aluminum heads i have been looing at are drilled for 86-earlier and vortec. what is everyone doing to run their stock (ported) manifolds? elongating the 4 center holes? and anyone have some pics thanks

There is no way around it. If you wanna run vortec heads with TPI , then you will need the lower base. You would not only have to drill the stock lower intake ,but you would have to add/weld metal to the intake cause the vortec heads sit at a different angel and it would leak otherwise.

I won't be running vortec heads anymore. The heads I m looking at are drilled for both 86-older and vortec intakes. I want to run my stock ported intake on these heads so I just want to see what people are doing to run there tpi base on carb heads.
