Cam and spring question, would appreciate the help!

looking to install an lt1 cam in my camaro with an 89 TPI 305 lb9, I know some different years in the lt1 cams had different specs, some small differences whats the best year if any? and I want to change my Valve springs as well, should I buy valve springs for a 350 lt1 and put them on my 305 lb9 heads or stock TPI Lb9 springs.

Cheapest GM LT1 springs are the Hotcam /ZZ4 springs @ $36

You need a 305 expert to say whether they are a drop in fit on your 305 heads like they are on LT1 / 113 heads

Re: Cam and spring question, would appreciate the help!

here is the 94-95 LT1 cam specs

Duration: INT.205/EXT.207
Lift 1.5 RR 447/459
Lift 1.6 RR 477/490
LSA 117

If you use 1.5 ratio rockers your still at or a little above the max. If I where you I would use an aftermarket valve spring and go with 1.6 ratio rockers to get that much more out of it.

I do not know if stock LT1 spring will work on 305 heads. If I were you I would place a phone call to a few local performance shops that do LT1 and TPI cars and get thier opinion. Chances are if it can be done they have done it. I distinkly remember LT1 cars complaining about weak valve springs though so you may want to go another way with the springs

EDIT: here is the link to the page I got the cam specs from http://www.ws6.com/faq/4_2.htm#ch4_2aw
