305tpi 350swap issues
over 1yr ago i swapped out my tired 305 for a fresh 358 and for awile after figurin out what had to be changed and gettin it tuned for the changes it ran great. recently over the winter i had it in the bodyshop for paint and when i got it back i noticed a major valve tap,so always having to adjust the valve cus of my solid set up i just figured out of adjustment. when i remove the driverside valve cover i notice the 1 exhaust valve had way to much clearance so after i adjusted and ran it for a minute the valve went way out again. ripped my newly painted car down and found it needed a cam and lifters, replaced solid setup with hyros and used the same roller tipped rockers i installed a little bit milder cam from comp cams xfi517 . car runs again but not great im having some issues with settin the ignition timin what should it be set at i was told 6degrees ? when at 6 the car is lacking throttle response. also its having an ongoin idling issue the car idles irratic and if i adjust the idle below 1000it surges and somtimes dies especially when the fans kick on. also at low rpms from 1000n to 3000 its kinda choppy like its loading up and once i dump the throttle and its past 3grand it takes off like a rocket . at idle threw the exhaust it sounds like its super lean and it missing but it has great throttle response? car will idle alday sometimes irratic but if i take it for a ride and come to a stop it stalls out almost instantly? iv change everythin i read about on this swap and im about to throw an intake and a carb setup on the car if i cant get it too run rite if anyones got any ideas please feel free to give em cus im runnin out of patients

Re: 305tpi 350swap issues
ok wel im gettin real tired of messin with this car . i just got done with another couple of hrs messing with it and still no solution im not that familiar with the tpi set up but im learnin i think .after adj the timin to stock and replacin the old plugs its still runs like **** it sounded ok at first then went for a ride and it pinged horribley at heavy throttle and once again almost instantly shut off when i bought the car to a stop light i had to bump it in gear to restart it while i was rolling due to a weak starter which is gonna be replaced 2m. my question is with my snap on modis scanner i watch my knock count at idle go over 530 in just minutes of idlein the motor has a slight wristpin knock but nothin of concern its been this way for 2yrs im sure with that kinda count its realy throwin my timin off could this be causing my stallin after heavy throttle and if so whats my solution do i replace the sensor or can i place it in another spot to eliminate the hi knock count . also if i adj the timing at 0 the car no longer pings and if i adjust the idle to like 1200 it will stay runnin after a heavy throttle but the idle will sometimes dip to 500 or go as high as 1500 someone please throw me somethin cus i love the throttle response of the tpi but the more and more i mess with it the more im leanin to throw and intake and a carb on it

i got it figured out the car runs great now the tune i had for my car wasnt done rite i had it retuned and it turns out that the timing had to be set at 0 not 6 after the rite tune and the rite timing settin the car runs like an animal and no longer stalls im so happy with the setup now that i can finally sleep soundly 2nite thanks for ur concern gonna put some pics of the new paint and interior on here soon car looks better then iv ever expected and im so happy its runnin the way i knew she would now i just gotta do some suspension work and take care of the the torque arm cus its pullin out of the bushings on heavy throttle its alittle too much for the stock setup
