86 IROC EGR Solenoid mounting location?

Ever since Ive owned my IROC (given to me as a gift back in 2002), the EGR Solenoid has never been mounted. I never even cared about mounting it the way its supposed too. But now I wanna clean up my engine compartment and I cant figure out how to mount the solenoid. I searched left and right on the boards and in google, But I cannot find a picture with the EGR Solenoid mounted, atleast with my style. Any help 86 IROC owners? Here is the egr solenoid that I got,,,,,

the picture above is the small cap tpi mounting. the large cap one 85-86 mounted in the same place but on a different bracket. I think the corvette had this mounted upside down on one of the fuel rail bolts. since you are using the edelbrock base if you get the correct bracket for mounting this it needs to be notched to fit with the rear corvette coolant crossover passage that the edelbrock uses.

Good morning "B". Thanks for clearing that up for me. That's why I took more than one picture because I knew that someone was gonna say "google" without realizing or paying much attention to the sole kids mounting bracket characteristics. Gonna call you later when I get out of work totalk about my egr bracket.

Ive heard that they can only be found in the junkyards. Try calling various dealerships. Some usually have one hidden in a dark corner.

Re: 86 IROC EGR Solenoid mounting location?

I had the same issue with my car. They stopped making EGR solenoids for TPI cars - at least for f-bodies. I didn't check and see if they stopped making them for L98 Corvettes.

I got another one from the thirdgen car club member where I live.

They still make EGR solenoids for LT1 cars though. It's strange they stopped making them since there were a lot more LB9 & L98 TPI motors made compared to LT1 motors.
