If you had used the Search feature here on TGO, you'd find threads all about cutting the access door like:

So your link is basically not a complete write up for the OPs car which is a 3rd gen. I already posted TGO links above that actually address his issue, so what was the point in you posting your only partially addressing the mod link?

The op was questioning cutting a hole, the point is the same, you cut a hole to access the fuel pump and seal it. your post's revealed cutting a hole and sealing it. The one i showed using a grinder, some use a tin snip, maybe getting idea's is not such a bad thing after all.

You obviously did not read my links, because they DO address having to cut the fuel lines & reattaching them with more than just hose & clamps.

Your link implies that he can simply cut the floor & disconnect the lines. Boy he woulda been frustrated when he got in there & found out the truth.

Please provide full truths when giving people advice, not just part of it. Or are you the kind of guy that would tell a guy to remove the 5 lug nuts to get a wheel off, but leave out the part about having to jack the car up?

You need to take a chill pill, this site is here for all to contribute. Some of you on here are a little up tight. I'm sure he'll read your post first, I just added a link to show what a nice job it could be if done right. You know, there are some that don't agree with cutting it at all. My point was, if your going to do it, do it right. Now you don't need to be ripen on some one for adding a link, even if it was a fourth gen gas pump. The job looked good when finished. So, if you have a need for the last word, go ahead.

Oh no, master of the hole hacking has unsubscribed, now how will people find out how to hack holes into cars instead of doing it the right way.

Re: fuel pump.... where to cut

Seems to me it would be a lot easier and quicker to drop the tank than to cut a hole in the floor of the car, cut the fuel lines, dig up compression fittings and extra lengths of hard lines, make a hole cover, paint, etc.

No I didn't read the links but I am familiar with the hole cutting process and yes, I have dropped the tank a few times.

It is faster, 45 minutes I can have the pump in my hand, people cant seem to grasp that not only is it something you shouldnt be changing often, at all, but that it also can weaken the car, all for how much actual time saved ?

Re: fuel pump.... where to cut

It is much simpler to do it right than to do all that is involved in cutting a hole. It's just very intimidating to someone who has never done it. Cutting a hole to get to something just an inch away on the other side appears so much easier. It's not!

Re: fuel pump.... where to cut

It doesn't take that much longer to drop the rear differential, Drop your exhaust and drop the tank.. I recently did mine in 5 hours out and in.. Of couse, I have done alot of work to my car and all the bolts are in perfect shape.. I would recommend the same thing, to do it right way instead of cutting holes in the body.

Re: fuel pump.... where to cut

Wasn't intentionally trying to start a cat fight but I got it out switched and sealed back up.... took about an hour.... I dont have a $500,000 garage so that was much quicker than trying to drop everything.

Weird that in a driveway with a few basic tools it can be out in 45 minutes.
