MAF sensor - broken wire

I picked up a MAF from a 87' Trans Am TPI car in a local salvage yard a couple weeks ago, didn't even double check it but one of the small wires is broken. Fortunately it was pretty cheap but is there any value to one that has a broken wire? From what I understand there isn't, some have attempted to repair it with a certain wire with mixed results.

I do have a potential use for it, I have my car setup to run MAF or SD, this could be gutted as a "dummy" MAF sensor if I run SD for a period of time to take the working MAF sensor spot. Just wondering before I hack it up if there is a better use for it .
