Yea, Ill take that pn. So basically, just hook up power to the tach and use the pig tail to connect to the gray connector and done...?

Re: TPI makeover: WARNING Pic heavy!!

yes you just need power and ground to the tach and the white wire feed is the tach signal. if you want the gauge to iluminate you will need to check for power on your headlight switch one terminal will go to the gauges and will have power in the parking light mode and the headlight position. The tach pigtail is a female spade and looks to me like its a acdelco pt486 or gm 12117353.

This is a Catco Cat and FM Super 44 off a Y pipe and Doug Thorley headers, 3" all the way out from collector...

Overall very happy. My impressions on the 44 is that is it deeper and raspier than the Magnaflow that was on it (model unknown, 3" I/O about 28" long). I think it is actually quieter at idle-OD too...
Had some time to kill before work...

Re: TPI makeover: WARNING Pic heavy!!

Again, pretty happy with the results. I wanted a simple turn down out of the muffler, but I talked to the guys at the AZ MVD and they pretty much said the wouldnt test a vehicle if they had to reach very far inside the fender well.

Next option was to have a pipe made just for testing...nah too much work, decided to kick it out in front of the rear tire.

Truck isnt a rock crawler and Im happy with the suspension height so Im not worried about it effecting ground clearance on a trail...

True test will be Sat..!!!

Re: TPI makeover: WARNING Pic heavy!!

So Im up this morning ready to take it for emissions test.....wont start...wtf?

Ran great all day yesterday...motor turns over easily, I noticed there is no pressure on the fpg...been trying for 10 min to start it.

Should that thing hold pressure over night or at least build pressure when Im trying to start it? At zero tells me its not starting because its not getting fuel...yes tank has gas, at 1/2.

Re: TPI makeover: WARNING Pic heavy!!

I cant believe your luck. The fuel pressure does bleed off back to the tank within 30 mins. When you turn the key to the accessory position the 2 second fuel pump prime will build the pressure to the fuel rail. Can you hear the pump kicking on ?

Ouch...

Maybe it's just the relay..Or fuse.
Don't they (pumps) usually get weak before they go??

Re: TPI makeover: WARNING Pic heavy!!

It looks like the relay under the hood on the bulk head passenger side is the fuel pump relay and fuel pump fuse right next to it. You should check the fuse first the you can even look at your aldl connector if it has a wire in pin g that goes to the relay so you could apply power there to see if the pump kicks on. Bypassing the low oil shut down switch with a paper clip from the orange wire to the grey wire will give power directly to the pump as well. The orange wire is hot all the time but is fused.

the only thing I can think of other than that is that the A/F ratio is off but I doubt it. It should be passing. Did you retain EGR?

OK, gonna pull the plenum...again...and replace EGR. Its the only thing that wasnt replaced...

Double check timing.

Check plugs.

Maybe change oil just for the hell of it...did it 1 month ago.

Pull O2 and look at that...

Change evap filter..

Try again, more concentrated solution of alcohol. If fail, then put AIR back on.

Here pic of Evap..pretty much was left alone, anything look out of place. I know there is supposed to be a solenoid there???

It appears I have the wrong canister for 92' TPI, see above. Correct for 92' TPI is:

Correct for 86' Blazer is:

Re: TPI makeover: WARNING Pic heavy!!

I think it highly unlikely that your CCP system would have anything at all to do with your emissions numbers.
If you have a functioning EGR system, then do not add Ethanol to your fuel.
In fact you are likely to test better using 87 octane, E0 if possible.

I would check your AFR to be sure, but assuming your AFR is correct, then it seems possible your EGR passages may be at least partially blocked by either a gasket or carbon build-up. I would check into that while you have the plenum off.

More spark advance increases burn efficiency, and so raises the NOX content of the exhaust. EGR counter-acts this by reducing burn efficiency.
The ECM normally adds some spark advance during the time it is assuming that EGR is flowing. If you have restricted EGR flow, but are getting the advance, then it will negatively affect your emissions numbers.

Misfires can cause higher HC in the exhaust. Sometimes tightening up the spark-plug gaps to 0.030" can help, but misfires generally indicate another problem as the cause.

Re: TPI makeover: WARNING Pic heavy!!

If you look at my canister its not even the right one. Basically the gas tank vents into it and gets sucked right back up into the TB. There's no purge valve or vent to control the flow which in turn does effect the A/F. It may not be the specific reason I failed, but I believe it contributed a little...and if you look at my numbers I failed by just a little. Gonna replace the canister with the correct unit and hose routing.

As far as the EGR its just gonna get replaced. I should've done it while the plenum was off...I have no idea how old or what shape its in. If I have to go through the trouble of getting to it to inspect it, Ill just replace it for piece of mind.

Thx for the tip on the alcohol and 87. Will double check timing this weekend, but set it as close to 6* as I could last weekend.

Re: TPI makeover: WARNING Pic heavy!!

If your CCP is affecting your AFR then your BLMs at idle should be bottomed out at around 108. That's a very easy & quick thing to look for.

If you really suspect the CCP but cannot test it properly, then you can simply unhook the canister from your intake for the emissions test to ensure you are getting no extra vapor from the tank.

Re: TPI makeover: WARNING Pic heavy!!

Went to local PAP...todays loot:

91' Caprice canister with purge valve and pigtail, $30....retail $150+ Ill probably do the block off like 350sbc did, but at least I have it if needed.

A few other odd and ends....Windstar fans and a few switches. Will put lights inside grill on floor switch and with the window-tank selector, Ill do my window and wire another accessory..porbably more lights.

Definately need the dash trim as I have nothing there now..

Re: TPI makeover: WARNING Pic heavy!!

OK, new CCV on...this is how it should look:

I still need to wire the pigtail...cant find any dead leads? Wires from the pigtail are green-pink/black stripe. I did find blue-pink/black stripe...? Would be green-blue be the same if the can is from a Caprice?

In the meantime I will just block the ccv-tb line as suggested by 350sbc. Just put in a coupler that I filled with scilicone...for now, keep everything appearing oe.

Re: TPI makeover: WARNING Pic heavy!!

On the wiring polarity will not matter. I would bet if the wiring is still there its tucked under your dash. F7 dark green/yellow uses the ecm to control the ground side of the solonoid. on the fused powerside the stock harness tied together theair solenoid and egr solenoid and hot side of the check engine light. i know where there is a junction block lol
