TPI starts only when stepping on gas pedal
I have a 1992 5.7 TPI, everything stock. Changed timing 2 days ago. Car was running fine after that. Today in am could not start. Engine turns but to start and keep running have to keep foot on gas pedal. If take my foot off the gas even after running it for a few minutes, RPMs fall and dies. Hoping its not a fuel pump issue. Pls help. Thanks!

When you changed the timing how much did you actually change it?
Did it cold start fine after the timing adjustment?
Did you change with anything else (spark plugs, wires, or idle speed)?
Might start by checking IAC and TPS. Instructions are found here: https://www.thirdgen.org/tpimod2 Even if it isn't the issue good idea just for normal check. That was one of the first things I did to my car when I first got it.

And did you tighten down the distributor clamp when you set the timing?

Did you unplug the timing connector when you set it? If not you may have it set wrong. Def sounds like a timing issue to me.

Re: TPI starts only when stepping on gas pedal
It did cold start after I adjusted. Drove it for a day. I did not do anything else (plugs, etc). I did tighten distrib. cap. Two mistakes that I made was:
1. I did not unplug the brown wire while adjusting
2. I did not use stroboscope, so not sure to which degree I actually messed it up. I did it by sound (engine running smooth).
Will go and check it now and report back. I hope all it is is timing. Thank you everyon for help.

I am an idiot. I completely messed up my timing. It was 4 degrees past 0. I set it to factory 6 degree before 0 and car started running like nothing happened. Thank you everyone for your help. Lesson learned, never touch timing without proper tools.

Proper tools, and the correct processes facilitate only having to do a job once.

Agreed. I almost had a heart attack, thought it was fuel pump.
