Big mis at 5500?

Ok looking for a little help here. I just put togather a new setup and it seems like I have rev limiter at 5500 and won't go over that. I have 355 with 10.1 AFR 195s milled .030 and the 08-503-08 cam (Duration 276/281, Lift .503/.510) stock maf, HSR,24lb inj, 2800 stall and 52mm tb,3 wire 0/2.f/p set at 48, I had a chip burned for it from tpichips. The cars runs fine just not the power I hoped for but it just has that bad mis. I have done th cap, rotor, wires when it was apart. Maybe im just missing something ..thanks for any help

Sounds like valve float or the prom was programed with the rev limiter set to 5500.

Re: Big mis at 5500?

I was also thinking valve float. I did not match the springs. I was thinking that the afr stocks springs would be enough.
Im also going to look into burning my own proms because this car now feels like there is much more hp to be had.

My stock TPI longblock would not go past 5500. We figured it was float. it was a 70,000 mile engine we put a carb/intake/mechanical distributor on. It hit a WALL at 5500.

Re: Big mis at 5500?

If it is valve float could I go to a 1.5 rocker and maybe get rid of it?

Re: Big mis at 5500?

You might contact afr, but with .510 and 1.6 rockers you will be at .544 , the afr springs are rated to .600, the cam is only making power up to 5800.

Yeah going to look into prom programing just gotta get the stuff.
Do you guys feel that the setup I have is ok because It really feels like it maybe a high 14ish car. I was thinking it would be quicker. I have went back and forth with my stock prom and the car feels the same and both have the miss. thanks for help so far

Angel doesn't do custom datalog tunes, if you do a read and compare I would bet there are just minor changes for fan settings , and emission delete.

Re: Big mis at 5500?

Did you port the base and plenum? These parts in stock form are very restrictive and, while this wouldn't itself explain the wall at 5,500, it would explain your lack of power. With your setup, you could do with a high flow base and large tube runners. However, even opening up the stock base and clearing out the plenum will really wake up your engine. Also sounds like you're running stock injectors with only a small increase in fuel pressure. Your should be looking at more like 24lb injectors at 48-50psi or the stock 22lb injectors at 60psi and tune around this.
Unless you are going to run the car with a wideband O2 and tune over the road, which takes alot of time and can be a little scary, I would recommend dyno tuning once you can burn your own PROM. Be careful for now in case you're running lean.
