TPI Plenum cleaning

On a stock TPI, what is best to clean grease and oil off of the plenum and runners?
Thanks,
Robin

This stuff... http://www.nevrdull.com/
I used it on mine. It takes off baked on deposits and even shines it up a little. Came out nice for me. Just wear gloves when using it. Take a chunk of it, rub it on the area you are cleaning, let it sit for a couple of minutes then buff it with a microfiber towel. Done. The material, your hands and the towel will be black. Thats how you know its working. You can buy it in Wal Mart, Pep Boys, and stuff like that. Heres mine. Not too shiny and looks good.

Re: TPI Plenum cleaning

You can also give purple power degreaser a shot. That stuff is like magic. Then use the never dull after that

Re: TPI Plenum cleaning

I borrowed some industrial degreaser from work. I filled up a wash tub with it and left the plenum, risers and, lower intake soak for like 3 days then hit real quick with a pressure washer. The whole setup looks brand new and the hardest thing I had to do was pull start the pressure washer. It even cleaned out all of the ports and tubes.

Re: TPI Plenum cleaning

I purchased the Neverdull specifically because it was recommended here. It didn't do much (if anything) on my plenum. Maybe because it wasn't that dirty to begin with?

Re: TPI Plenum cleaning

I wouldn't try this with the TPI stuff on the car, but I have a spare plenum I may try...
The Eagle One Aluminum Mag Wheel Cleaner is like magic on the turbo cast wheels...
Wo I'll try it on the plenum and see.... it's harsh stuff, though, so I don't know about it getting on any rubber parts...

Re: TPI Plenum cleaning

Neverdull didnt do anything for my plenum or runners, except get the top layer of dirt off. I had to glass bead my intake because it was so dirty. I may try the purple power degreaser on the runners and plenum.

Re: TPI Plenum cleaning

I bought a $20 hand held sand blaster from Harbor Freight and a container of glass beads. The intake came out looking near new when I was finished. I did this with the intake off the car. I did the upper, lower and intake runners.

Re: TPI Plenum cleaning

Not sure why you guys had no luck with the never dull. It shined up my runners like in my picture in my above post, and cleaned the plenum as well. Its not going to shine the plenum, but it will clean it off a bit. Good luck

Re: TPI Plenum cleaning

I used a wire wheel to the outside and then welded a small wheel on a 12 inch metal rod to get the insides of the runners. The outside came off no problem, and the inside contained 3 handfulls of deposits that I cleaned out as well. Then after that I took one of those headlight restore kit buffer things that goes on the drill and went at it with brasso. As you can tell in the picture, a mirror finish this aint, but its waay cleaner than when I started. I could also spend a hour or two more polishing it once I get these oil leaks patched up. Shes shining bright tho! good luck to ya
