I bought a ported Edelbrock base and plenum ahile back for my 89 Formula 350. It has ran fine for the most part. Im upgrading injectors and I bought a Mr. Gaskey 1.75" gasket set to seal it back up. Only thing is some of the lower gaskets at the manifold didnt work with the EGR ports and PCV/9th injector ports.
I have the EGR blocked and I dont have a 9th injector.
It looks like the small tube on the drivers side runner has been plugged on both ends plus there isnt a hole in the plenum on the drivers side to even utilize it if it wasnt!

The small tube on the passangers side has been left untouched even though the EGR port in the top of the manifold has been blocked with a plate.
I got to looking closer and seeing that since the runner on the drivers side is blocked I dont think my PCV valve is seeing any vacuum???

I dont think the runners got flipped cause I can see where the hole for the (th injector used to be and its on the drivers side where it should be.
I am wondering if the plenum should have a port for the drivers side? Maybe its a mixed match set and I need the correct plenum?

Any way please look at these pics and help me find Waldo.

Re: Officially confused with this edelbrock ported intake i bought awhile back. look
The runner that is blocked is the drivers side, look at runner to intake gaskets the longer oval one is for the pcv drivers side. looks like a 89 plenum. Im not sure what your confusion is looks like there will not be any issue with using these parts.

I'm guessing my confusion is, if the runner is blocked on the driver side how does my Pcv get vacuum? And where does the lower port on the drivers side manifold go?

Re: Officially confused with this edelbrock ported intake i bought awhile back. look
Unless the location was changed when GM deleted the cold start injector, the PCV valve connects to a 3/8-NPT hose barb nipple on the manifold just above and to the left of the #5 intake port.

In this pic:

On your base...where that nipple is sticking out, is where my PCV is plugged in at, sure looks like it anyways...as mine goes from Valve cover and under the fuel rail.

Yes that is where the Pcv should connect. What I'm trying to say is, if the small tube that goes from the plenum to the manifold is blocked. How does that Pcv fitting going to get vacuum. Unless that PAC fitting gets vacuum from inside the manifold as well as that port just to its left, then I will not have an operating Pcv system.

Re: Officially confused with this edelbrock ported intake i bought awhile back. look
the block someone make just blocks the vacuum passage if you would use the ninth injector.
The passage to the barb fitting is still open. If you have a csi buy a fuel rail block off kit off ebay, they run around $30. If you need any reprograming assistance because of this shoot me a pm.

Re: Officially confused with this edelbrock ported intake i bought awhile back. look
So you are saying that there will still be vacuum at the hose bark even though it is in no way connected to the plenums vacuum at all?

Speaking of programming assistance. The reason I'm installing these injectors is because I'm putting on twin turbos. So YES. I will absolutely need programming assistance.

The base will have vacuum at that port, regardless of what has been done to the runners...your PCV will work fine.

In fact I might have an old base to take pic for you...gimme 15 minutes

Edit:

I don't have a stock base I could find, but looked at an Accel...behind the nipple is a passage to the "oval hole" and that passage in the "Oval hole" goes into the intake...probably to an intake runner...you should be fine.

.

I see your confusion...vacuum is generated from the engine...not the plenum

Re: Officially confused with this edelbrock ported intake i bought awhile back. look
the pcv passage goes to the passage that the runner will cover up and the pcv gets manifold vacuum through all 8 runners through the passage under the intake where the large pipe plugs are installed. I can get you set up with a starter tune, But with boost you might want to look at dynamic efi ebl p4 . I have no experience with boost on tpi maf or code $59

I already have the ebl flash installed with a base tune on my 24# injectors. I'll tune for the 60# injectors but I am Leary about tuning for boost. I'd rather not melt a piston.

I think I have the vacuum question answerd thanks to you guys. Much appreciated!!
