I need help with a cam please help

I need help with picking a cam. My set-up will be:

406ci small-block w/
a superram
about 10:1.1 compression
it is a Speed Density set-up
and since I can't find a flat tappet cam with decent lift I will be using 1.6 roller rockers.
It will be backed up by a T-56 spinning a 4.10 gear

Someone suggested the XE-274 cam but do you think that the 110 LSA will be too much for the computer?

Thanks so much for any help.

I think he meant that since he couldn't find the kind of lift he wanted he would use 1.6 RRs to add a little more lift, not as a lifter.
Check out this page from LPE's site. There is a list of cam recomendations for various engine combos.

yeah you got it. I can't seem to find any flat tappet cams with the right duration and over .500 lift. My heads can support .575 lift and I would at least like to be close to it. thanks for your help.

I went to that site but all it listed for a cam for a 400 is a mechanical roller cam. I don't want to go throught the aggravation to switch to a roller cam. Doesn't it cost alot of money to convert?

is a 110 degree LSA too much for the computer even with a custom chip?

If your reason for selecting the XE274 is to avoid getting a new eprom...you will be sadly disappointed. For the 406, you will need to have the eprom changed anway.

Why not look at hydraulic roller? You should "match the cam" with your heads and intake - while considering your primary purpose for your engine. I have no idea what heads you are using or what your "goal" is, so I feel it is not fair to make a recommendation.

With SD, you will need to re-do the eprom regardless. With proper tuning you can handle more cam than you are mentioning, but it really depends if that is what you want.

oopps I forgot to mention my heads

I got the Edelbrock RPM heads.

I did not have those intentions with the XE 274 cam I was going to go with the XE-268 but someone told me it may be too small for it and I may not be happy with it. I understand that I will have to get a custom chip I mentioned that earlier.

Does anyone make any roller cam kits that aren't priced outrageously? Does anything have to be done to the block for a conversion? What is involved with swapping in a roller cam. I would rather get a roller cam but I was under the assumption that it was very costly.
