Edelbrock High-Flo TPI, any good?

Does anyone here have the Edelbrock High-Flo TPI? I always hear people saying they have the base, but does anyone have the base and runners? How good is it? I'm thinking about putting my Christmas money towards it...

I have the base, but I got it for 200 bucks.. I couldn't see spending 300+ dollars on a pair of runners. Only buy high flow runners if you've done a lot of other mods, a camshaft costs half as much and could give much greater rewards. Same with many parts.

The base is worth it but you can get cheaper runners that are better. I think rezinn is correct about a cam being a better idea but you can do the base and runners in an afternoon in your driveway and the cam can be a pain.

I don't know if I'm gonna be able to do the cam any time soon, if I do I'll probably have to have some shop put it in. I just don't have the means to do it right now...

I've got the base sitting here next to me now. I was pretty impressed with it, just needs a little touch up and I'm going to polish the outside. You won't believe how much bigger the intake ports are than stock. I got the SLP runners, doing some serious porting and polishing on those too. Couldn't see paying 350+ bucks for the Edelbrock ones. I'd say its a pretty good product.

Ok, so we're 3-0 for the base, and 0-3 for the runners? No wonder I see so many people running around here and in their sig's it's got "Edelbrock base w/SLP runners"... I'm tempted to order the base, but I need to save this money for tires...

I have the Edelbrock Runners but on a stock intake. I like them. I got an extra 500 rpm out of them.

I have the edelbrock base and AS&M Runners. Only problems I had was that the inner Runner holes on the base were slightly off and that I have to grind away a little on my thermo housing for it to fit. Other then that its been fine.

Wrongly cast base? Sounds really REALLY bad. When did you get this? Do you think the problem has been solved by now?

Edelcrock's Quality Control works like this:

Cast part.
Machine part.
Stick in box.
Ship out door.

See that QC phase? Impressive, isnt it?

To the poster above who is gonna port and polish your base, make sure it fits right before you do all that if at all possible.

What's up with the wrong base? This is the first I've heard of it. How do you tell if it's wrong. I won't lose nothing but my time, I'm taking it into the dealership where I work. Air tools are great!

Depends. If its as bad as the Performer RPM I got, all you have to do is throw an intake gasket on BOTH sides of the manifold, and come to realize the ports are out of alignment relative to the bolt holes by 1/4"

I made 3 mistakes:
1. Didnt check both sides of the manifold with the gasket. As Murphy dictates, the side I checked was fine.
2. Tore my car apart before making sure the manifold was made properly.
3. Bought a part from Edelcrock.

This isnt the first, second, or even third bad part I have gotten from them. There wont be a 5th, I can tell you that. I have also heard of other problems with parts from them, and their tech dept. thinks its cool to lie to you about their products, thinking you are too dumb to read identification marks on parts.

Ditto. Count me as one of the anti-Edelcrap people around here. Heard and seen too many problems with thier various products...I'll never buy anything from them ever again.

I have the Edelbrock base and AS&M runners.

No problems so far, but I did not install the base myself.

I got the base and the runnners. The quality on the base wasnt bad but it did need some cleaning up. Unfortunatly(spelling) I bought the runners before I found this site. IMO they are not worth the money. There are better runners out their for less money. And I agree with Madmax and Jester Edelbrock's quality sucks.
