as a few of the members on here have replied to my other thread about the cold start issue, well i have another problem. Great... let me start off with some details so you guys aren't wild guessing about what i've got here.

86 tpi camaro with a jasper stage 1 350
jet stage 2 305 chip
accel 24lb injectors
edelbrock shorty headers with the y pipe
stock induction system besides what is listed above
accel supercoil
othertwise pretty much stock engine wise
so the issues is when i start the car sometimes it surges BAD. then throws a code but doesn't store it. weird right? well after all that is over it loads up and has horrible throttle response until it warms up after a while. so far i have replaced the fuel pump, maf, and burnoff relays and replaced the iac. the fuel filter was just replaced about a month ago if that helps. thanks guys!

 

When does it do this?

1. First start after sitting overnight?
2. All the time even at or near operating temperature?

 

it mainly does it cold so yes after sitting. when you go to give it more gas going down the road it stumbles. WOT is perfecftly fine.

 

I wonder if you have a bad coolant temperature sensor?

Did you get someone to burn a chip for 350ci and 24LB injectors? 19# is stock for 305, 22# for 350.
Pull spark plug(s), I would expect them to be black.

 

I would have to agree with MoJoe. If it's a mail order chip it's not doing you any favors. You need to have it custom tuned on a dyno, or at the very least find a 350 chip. I would also check the basics like timing, fuel pressure, tps maybe.

my dad seems to think its the distributor... how he came to that conclusion we may never know. the reason it has the 305 chip in it was because no one made a 350 chip at the time (roughly around 2002). so i will be looking for atleast a 350 chip

 

so we hit up tpiparts.net for one of their chips. got it in today and it solved the surging issue on the cold start but now there's a stumble on acceleration.
