Whats the best Fuel injector cleaners;/additives for gas tank?

I might have one or two slightly clogged injectors. I get a flodded start condition after sitting 1-2 hrs, overnight it starts fine. I'd like to try the Best injector cleaner on the market first. If that don't help, I'll have to remove them and get them done. Lots easier & cheaper to try a GOOD fuel additive, however. Has anyone had a good experience with any certain brand or brands? If so, what:? I'm probably not the only guy wondering what's best. This is a fairly common concern, especially on TPI cars stored during the winter...the injectors can get gummed up easily.Any tips would be appreciated . Thanks

Good question, I wonder if most of those additives even do a damn thing, it seems like every company below the sun has it's own carb/injector cleaner. Call me old fashion but I don't think clean injectors come in cans, pull 'em and have them cleaned. Just my opinion. Good luck!

For what its worth, I use Gumout every 3,000 miles on my 3800 Regal and it is still running like a champ after 300,000 miles.

The only fuel additive i used in which i actually noticed a change was this chemtool fuel system cleaner. I tend to think they're all the same solvent no matter what BS they say on the back of the bottle. They're probably good preventantive maintenace but if your injectors are already clogged and really dirty, pouring one bottle of it in your tank isn't gonna solve your problem.

I used the brand "seafoam" and that did make a diffence on my car when I got it. I ran 2 cans 2 sepearate times just for extra cleaner. but my o2 sensor was reading EXTREMELY lean untill I ran a can of that stuff though. It worked great for me!

I use REDLINE injector cleaner with good results. I get mine at Pep Boys, or you can buy through Summit.

I also have had a positive experience with "seafoam", but it seems to work differently than most additives. The difference I noticed was probably from cleaner valves not injectors. Ive tried many other additives and some seem to get me more mpg's but any gain I experienced went away as soon as the tank was empty.

I agree with lancer5067...If your injectors are leaking or clogged that much I'd have them cleaned professionaly.

Good luck

I will 2cd the chemtool. I had used it a few times with good results.
I don't use that stuff anymore, this was on the 2.8, i'd pour anything into that car.

I too have the same flooding problem on warm starts. I've always used Valvoline SynPower Fuel Injector cleaner in the past and it has worked very well on several of my cars. However, the last time I used it on the IROC, hoping to fix the hard starting problem, I did two tank fulls in a row with the SynPower and now the problem seems to be worst.

I guess for the low cost, its worth a try with the injector cleaner. But don't be surprised if it doesn't work. The other thing you might want to consider before taking the injectors out is the MotorVac, where they do a carbon flush. I'm removing my injector in a couple weeks and sending them to Cruzin Performance to get done.

When storing a (TPI) car for the winter one should put fuel stabilizer(Wynn's or Briggs and Stratton or simular) in the tank, with the fuel.
No clogged injectors or other fuel related problems for sure!

That's not entirely true...I've put fuel stabilizer in every year and I've got the same problem as pauls.

What is the partnumber for GM Fuelinjector Cleaner?
It should be somewhere on the bottle.
Thanks!

I think a lot of these fuel injector cleaners are no better than the old comic book ad that George Carlin used to talk about for the "zit zapper", which shows a drawing of a kid with dots on his face and then another picture of the kid with no dots... same smell as this injector cleaner razzmatazz...

There is one that if you don't want to pull your injectors to have them cleaned that I have had great results with, and that's BG44K, I used to buy it at the Pontiac Dealer. Use that for the injectors and some GM Top Engine Cleaner for the tops of the valves & all... otherwise, your best bet for getting those injectors clean would be to send them to Rich at www.cruzinperformance.com. $10 per injector to have them cleaned and flowmatched... I just bought a set of injectors with 24k on them and another set of brand new injectors off ebay and you know I am still going to send them to him when I get back to the states... Outstanding service, outstanding results...

Just my lousy 2 cents worth...

Use a good Premium Gas as recommended in the owners manual
by GM for TPI engines and then you will not have to worry about additives.

Good information here, I always like to throw a little JP-8 (jet fuel)in the TA for premium performance(lol). Kevin, from a fellow serviceman hang in there and be safe!

I use Redline Oil fuel injector cleaner. They make good products all around. Add 1 full bottle to the tank, then a little bit every tank fillup. It has marks on the bottle. I also use the highest octane gas I can get. Never seem to have any problems. Even before I sent the injectors out to Cruzin' Performance.

Just my 2cents.
