TPI to LT1 Help!!

I'm planning on ditching my TPI and getting a LT1 intake and having it reworked by John Millican..I found one on ebay out of a vette and it says it comes with everything but the wiring harness. Will I be able to use this? Any and all help is appreciated..

if its 94-97 yes it will work fine. just follow john's article and should
be a worth while swap. what cam/head/exhaust do you have?
loose converter?, gears??

I haven't made a choice on a cam for this new setup...I'm thinking of going with the Trick Flow 23* heads for the swap alot of people seem to be happy with them on a miniram/Lt1 motor. And Right now I have edelbrock TEs headers and RPM series catback..which I'm planning on changing over to SLP or hooker 1 3/4 headers and a mufflex catback with a spintech muffler to let the motor breathe a little better. I'm thinking of either 3.45 or 3.73 gears in the rear. I'm still trying to piece everything together..any comments or ideas?

what do you have now??
or are you in the planning stage.
build a short block, buy the heads, build the intake??
if you are a stock 5.7L and adding to it. the manifold swap will
be fine, just no flow because of the stock cam, and your right
there a couple more hours and the cams out.
many ways to attack it, budget, use of car, and availability will
determine a few for ya.

Right now other than an aftermarket cam my motor is stock internally..I want to just start fresh and get a new cam and heads..What would be a good cam to go with? That would work well with the LT1 setup and the TF heads..

HOT LT4 cam

the HOT LT4 cam would be a fine candidate. short runner fast
ramp profile. will need a loose converter (2500rpm) gears and
a 52mm throttle body. programming will be necessary. the 3.73
will probably be the norm as the torque fall off under 2000rpm
will be noted. so intown and moderate highway will be sluggish.
thats why manual trans is preferred. in a 96 corvette LT4 6-spd
4.10 gear this cam was a neck snapper over stock.

Anyone ever try swapping a cam in the car?

I've done 'em on the second gens, and you just gotta lift the motor up about 3 inches, or unbolt the crash bar. I'd imagine on a thirdgen it would be a little tight.

Anyone have any data on the LT1 intakes vs aftermarket TPI stuff?

In stead of doing the intake swap, why not just buy a whole LT1? If you modify it to accept a dizzy, you can contol it with what you've got.

well let's see that's easy..It's $1,000+ for a decent LT1 motor. I already have an L98 motor with 57k miles on it in my car. My whole idea behind having an LT1 intake worked to fit my car is to save money and not have to buy a $1000 miniram. And as far as the LT4 hot cam goes I've heard alot of good things about it. Although I don't have a manual tranny and have no plans to swap one. And I've been told 4.10 gears is really overkill on a thirdgen but then again the motor will be allowed to rev a little more with the LT1 intake so maybe it would work out.

Well, I have the LT1 intake with the LT4 HC. So far, I like the combination. It does rev better than the TPI I had before. Unfortuneately, problems on the dyno led to inconclusive results. I know I have at least 268rwhp and 252ft-lbs of torque, bad considering my previous run.
As for putting in the cam, yes it can be done, but it's a PITA. When I did mine, I put the cam in while the engine was in the car, but I ended up pulling it to redo the heads and install the torque convertor.
And, FYI, I have TFS TW heads, 2700 stall and 3.73 gears.

What did you use in this picture for the dizzy spacer? Is this store bought, or did you make it?
