Re: Can you eliminate the purge cannister without problems?
Cool! Yeah I'll have to look at the T-ram thread again for the bracket pics and see if I can't fab something from discarded rusty Mustang fender LOL. I want to keep the spare tire compartment open so I can stick a nitrous bottle in there. Kind of thinking about cutting an extra driver's side rear panel and setting it up like the passenger's side with a couple extra plastic screws and be able to remove the panel for access so if the battery has issues it can be accessed easily. Seems it'd be a pain trying to fish it through the glovebox hole, and I've got about 27 of the driver's side panels in medium gray to cut up. I know the hawks had battery terminals under the hood for jump starting or what have you, but not too sure how to implement something similar... Got ideas, but until the body work is done it's not like I need to worry too much about it.

This is my vapor canister. From left to right, the fittings are: PCV, Fuel Tank, Carb Bowl.
I don't understand what those additional fittings piggy-backed on top are for...

Your canister is different than mine.
Those additional fittings on top are vacuum actuated valves.
Solenoids replaced them in the later years, activated by the ECM.
We can figure this out if you have your emission hose routing diagram code.

Re: Can you eliminate the purge cannister without problems?
I have an 84 TA LG4. I think it has what must be the simplest canister - just 2 port connections ( tank & carb) and no built on valves.
No ECM controlled solenoids either. Canadian cars had no ECMs, but had all sorts of vacuum controlled valves for fuel vapor control.
Refer back to the diagrams in post #8.
