Hesistation @ idle

my car seems to have hesitation from idle when i mash the throttle to the floor. the RPM's come up real slow but when shes about 2k-2500 and i hit it i get instant response. sound like i should adjust the TPS?

Check your timing first. I run about 10 degrees advanced. If you only have 5 or 6 degrees it will cause the engine to bog off the line until it gets a few RPM's up.

Ended up I had a couple of wires with worn insulation that were coming out of the plastic wire loom that runs between the valve cover and base. I saw some threads awhile back on checking them with an digital meter, however I cant remember where they were right now. Do a search, you should be able to find it.

What? Stock timing is set to 6 degrees advance, and my car ran perfect that way.

When was the last time you changed the plugs?

Plugs are brand new and gapped at .40 timing is at about 9* new cap and rotor & new plug wires also. today i adjusted the Idle & TPS. she seems to be doing much better. now i just gotta fix the headlights (one housing broken & the other keeps catching on the front clip) not bad for the 1800 i picked her up for.

Oh yea. parting out an 87 GTA anyone lookin for any parts e-mail me NjPoGoPuNk@cs.com i got a 700-R4 freshly rebuilt with about 75 miles on it (motor went after rebuild) have receipts. Looking to unload everyting real cheap cause my father is givin me crap about having 2 GTA's

I've seen it on alot of cars, not just mine, new plugs, old plugs, cheap or expensive plugs. Every motor is different, like a personality ya know. Just throwing out ideas for him to check cuz he didn't say what everything was set at.
