Injector fuses

Should the inj1 and inj2 fuses have 12v on both side of the fuses when the key is turned forward (not cranking)? Both of mine show 0v on the right side. I have an 88 iroc 5.7 tpi. Thanks

Re: Injector fuses

According to the schematic in the FSM, the fuses should only have 12 volts when the key is in the start position.

Here (http://www.austinthirdgen.org/index.php?pid=19), the fuses should have 12 volts in run and start positions, which makes more sense to me.

What problem(s) are you trying to troubleshoot?

thanks for the reply. The car will start on starter fluid but will only turn over without it. It is not getting fuel. The distributor was corroded on the inside so I replaced it and that didn’t make a difference. The injector fuses only have 12v on one side. Where should the 12v come from for the other side?

Re: Injector fuses

Depends if this is with the fuses installed or removed. If the fuses are installed they should be hot on both sides. If not then the fuse(s) is bad.

If the fuses have been removed then they will be hot only on the IGN+ feed side. The side that goes to the injectors will be near 0 volts.

Note that the ECM provides a ground to the injectors to open them.

RBob.

Re: Injector fuses

The fuses do have power on both sides when installed. When I turn the key, the motor turns over and sputters for a couple seconds. I’m assuming this is just the fuel igniting that may have dropped out of the injectors. While I turn the key, the metal rod that enters the top of the ignition switch does not move. If I depress the sleeve that the rod enters, it does spring back and forth
