Getting ready to put the L98 in and buttoning up a few last things. My old 89 LB9 TPI manifold had only one port on the front of the manifold for a coolant sensor. The one from the 88 L98 going in has two. Can I just plug one?
Bringing up an old thread... Well, sort of old. I have a similar question about the sensors on the front of the TPI intake. It makes sense that one is a "switch" for the cold start injector but I'm curious which on is which. I have one with a plug that looks like an "injector" connection so going to make an assumption that is the one but could someone please confirm. The other sensor has a traditional "GM weatherpack" connection and clip .
Thanks Vader, I have the engine out to replace the oil pan so I'm in the process of going through the entire engine bay. The engine in the IROC was the first time I put an engine in a car 19 years ago so there were things I just replaced without question. ie: If the OEM engine had it the next engine was getting it.
Now 19 year more wise, or the opposite, I'm trying to reduce the "rats nest" under the hood so among other things I'm going to remove the Cold Start Injector and just tune for it's operation during cold cranking. I did a quick search but couldn't find a solid answer, does anyone know the coolant temperature at which the Cold Start injector was commanded to fire during cracking?
In previous conversions I have set the parameters as follows:
There is also a Startup spark advance vs. CTS which can be tweaked to optimize cold start, but you'll need a cold chamber to test that out or wait until January along Erie.
