Question about South Bay fuel injectors o ring fitment?
Ok so I got a issue/question. I bought some refurbished fuel injectors yellow cap 22lb . I notice there is a difference between the o ring on the south South Bay fuel injectors are a round flat type and don't really snap into the lower intake like the orginals do .
I did call South Bay about the fitment they were very cool about it said I might need to put some soap and water to help seat them , with the different o ring design I didn't know how far down they needed to go and they don't press down very easy like orginals I did try to start the car but noticed a slight fuel leak around the middle injectors thought I'd get some opinions on my issues thanks .
Re: Question about South Bay fuel injectors o ring fitment?
I have the same injectors from south bay. You have to lubricate them to install. They have worked fine since I installed them several years ago.. I think you have to install them in the fuel rail first then install in the manifold. South Bay is specific about that. Good Luck.
Re: Question about South Bay fuel injectors o ring fitment?
sorry for the late response. The orings on our injectors are flat is because we had them custom made when we designed the bottom adapter. Remember the bosch lll's are shorter than stock..that's why we designed the adapter...to make up the difference in height. The square oring and adapter will not sit as far down into the intake as the stock...however they work.
Please install them into the intake first....do not try to push them all the way in because they will not work. You then lubricate the upper orings with some dish soap and lower down the rail.
You should be fine. If anyone ever has any questions or problems with our injectors please contact us directly so we can answer your questions.

it's the other way around....manifold first then fuel rail. We always include a note in the box as a reminder as to how to install the injectors correctly.

Ok thanks for the replies, I may have lost the directions I know I bought them a while back . I will give that a try on installing them manifold first.

They did for my Bosch 4 36's- had to dremel a bit on the top clip slots, continual leaks on oem fuel rail equipped First TPI until I installed the clips- been leak free now. Did I say how much a pita it was to take that manifold down 2 or 3 times to solve the issue. Never had an issue with the Bosch 3 34's.

You do not need the clips. Bosch makes some injectors without the grooves for the clips. Understand that they'll be held in place by a minimum of 43lb of pressure.
They aren't going anywhere!

Hence the multiple re/re- with adapters, without adapters, without clips and waited for order of clips. This isn't a stock oe manifold so the dimensions may not be the same....., the Bosch 3's were probably a tad longer. I researched my issue of leakage at the rail and multiple guys solved the issue after installation of the clips.

wish i would have known it wasn't a stock intake. The injectors are too tall with the adapter. They're probably sitting to high up in the rail. That's why we have notes everywhere on our site and wherever else we advertise. It says to call us if you have an aftermarket intake.
We're going to have to exchange them for you without the adapter. They were designed to fit stock setups only. So the clips are not going to help you. Please give us a call and we'll get this straightened out for you.
