Help with injector size

I’m building a new engine top to bottom and will be using the Dynamic Efi EBL which I have zero experience tuning so far

I already have all the parts, My combo will be 383 stroker, AFR vortec 190 heads, Lingenfelter LPE219 cam, Super Ram with high flow base

what size injectors should I run. I had read 30#s but the more I read I don’t know if they’ll end up being to big and give me problems. I also seem to be seeing not to go with the Bosch D3’s I see on SouthBay

what input do you guys have. I will also be running an AFPR

Thanks
Brian

Re: Help with injector size

Wouldn't hurt to build in a little more margin and go with 36lb. Once you set the injector parameters in the calibration it'll run just fine.

Just make sure to get injectors that have a factory datasheet along with them. Its not just the size you need but the voltage offsets as well.

Re: Help with injector size

Get injectors WITH DATA. IE: not the Bosch D3's. Since you will be batch fire you don't want anything larger than about a 50lb injector or your idle PW's will be too small. With larger injectors you NEED accurate data or you will have no end of problems. If you go larger than about 50lbs you will have to go to full sequential and an entirely different ECU. I am running 100lb injectors with full sequential.

I agree that a 36 would be ideal. Holley makes a drop in EV1 in 36lb that comes with data. Used them in an 87 with a stock 7165 and no problems.

Re: Help with injector size

I had a similar 383, and I ran 30# injectors, BUT....they were right on the edge of what is recommended. If I remember correctly, you wanna be around 80% duty cycle at WOT. I was right there, and yours looks just a little hotter than mine, so 36# would probably be perfect. You plug in your injector size when setting up your tune and the computer compensates. As long as you're not WAY too big or WAY too small, you're good.

...as for data, each different injector SHOULD come with offset data. When the computer tells the injector to open/fire for "x" amount of time, it's a generic mathematical number. Some injectors will actually stay open slightly longer, or slightly shorter, based on how long it takes the physical injector to actually open and close. The bigger the injector, the more it matters. The manufacturer gives you that data, and you plug it into your initial tune. The computer then compensates based on that data.

Re: Help with injector size

30’s would be ok imo if you already had a set and become 36’s with more fuel pressure lol
