Any thoughts on sources? I've been trying ebay with no luck so far, Hawks advertises a used Bosch unit on their website and I ordered it but they are out of stock. I'm looking for NOS if possible as I understand that Bosch is no longer making these but haven't found anything new at any price. so far. I've read on this site that these cars can be picky on which MAF works best on them so I'm trying to stay as close to original as possible.
Tried two Delphi units- neither worked with my stock TA, which is all original (the Bosch MAF currently in it is the original unit), 22,000 total miles on the car. Any help appreciated on this or on the other aftermarket or remanufactured units that I've seen online (Cordone, etc). Thanks- Mike
That sucks about Hawks I recently purchased one from them and it was the real deal, tested out good etc. I also wanted a new one and actually found a few new reman AC Delcos (nearly $700) which used to be the best you could get but upon further inspection and research has the same part number and photos as a spectra or dorman reman which can be had for less than a quarter of the price elsewhere…
I also found a few used Bosch on eBay recently, be sure to check the Corvette and Corvette salvage parts guys as they tend to have a better selection. Atlantic Corvette had one or two last I checked and they have a good return policy if it doesn’t work out.
I also recently saw a NOS BWD Niehoff never used reman on eBay, I’m not a big reman MAF guy but I believe that was one of the better ones available.
Here is a handy reference sheet with part numbers to make it easier to search on eBay:
I have a Standard Motor MF4712 on my car that is a reman Bosch. It works fine for me. Are any of the remans Bosch?
I have a somewhat interesting (to me) story about my reman Bosch maf. My friend bought it in 2003 or so for his 1985 305 TPI. Back then you couldn't go on the internet and find the right part in seconds. It wasn't the right maf. He couldn't return it so he put it back in the box and it sat in his dads garage from 2003 until 2012 when I bought his Camaro off him. I had no need for the maf but I took all the parts he had laying around. I converted that car to speed density and never used the maf. I tried for years to sell the maf on local classifieds with no luck. I only asked like $40 for it. In 2020 I bought a 1987 Camaro 305 TPI and it wasn't running well. I took the maf off and it was de-screened and the heat sinks were cut off. That's when I remembered I had the "new" maf. I put it on and all is good. That maf was sitting around in a box for 17 years and finally got it's day in the sun.
I just looked on rockauto and the BSE 57854 says is new and the picture shows Bosch housing. The BSE 27854 says reman and shows Bosch housing.
I replaced the stock Bosch MAF on my '86 with a TFT sensor many years ago. I haven't had a bit of trouble with it. Unfortunately, that part (Wells) is no longer available, and reports from those who have tried the clone units have not shown the same kind of success that I had.
