Engine Build Question .
It seems time to get the 1989 Trans AM GTA going again. I am planning a turbo TPI build.
Currently my L98 is done knocking no oil pressure and needs to be rebuilt. Instead of rebuilding I am planning on buying a crate engine or have a custom engine built.
Eventually I will end up with a FIRST TPI turbo build (assuming I can get a FIRST TPI System)~600 WHP. I plan on running the engine NA for a few years then do a custom twin turbo setup.
Given my goals of 600HP and FIRST TPI what are you guys thoughts on what style head I should go with?
I plan a forged 383 shortblock ~10-1 compression to have good power NA and require less boost to hit my power goal.
Should I go Vortec style heads, pre 86 heads, 87+ L98 style heads. I am not sure what options are available for each style, I assume the Pre-86 style heads have a lot more options.
Money isnt a huge issue but I do not like spending money I do not need to, I am not a brand name guy so ok with flow-teks or a Chinesium head if it flows and functions well.
