Finally fixed!

So after numerous parts, and few a different threads and lots of research my car is running great and the problem wasn't anything expected, I ended up putting a new TPS, MAF, IAC, ICM, cap, rotor, Bosch III injectors, EGR, fuel pressure regulator and few other things I've probably forgotten I finally figured out my hard starting and hesitaion issues.......... faulty Accel coil that previous owner had installed, Put a new Delphi coil in this morning and car is running as smooth as my 2021 Challenger! What a relief! Just goes to show just because you think something is good and new that just may not be the case.

Re: Finally fixed!

Funny, years ago I had a new build I was putting together and had a no spark issue. I was messing with it for an entire day. The next morning I figured i would swap the used GM coil back in and it fired right up. I ran that car until the day I sold it with that coil. I found it hard to believe that a brand new MSD coil wouldn't even spark out of the box. Lesson learned.

I've had so many MSD parts that did exactly that, failed out of the box

Re: Finally fixed!

I say about 5% of aftermarket parts are bad out of the box.

Re: Finally fixed!

nothing is worse than trying to fix an issue with new parts and then the car still won't work. your first inclination is to think you did something wrong because brand new parts aren't supposed to be defective. you waste a ton of time checking all sorts of things and then it ends up being a crappy new part!! it's becoming way too common lately.

This is third time I've been burned on aftermarket so called high performance ignition parts, I never thought in a million years that coil was bad, I thought there's no way I could get burnt again but sure enough I did! I will never buy aftermarket ignition ever again, the only reason it was on this car was because it was already on there lol

Re: Finally fixed!

I have learned over the years that when it comes to ignition parts, stay with GM. That includes distributor, cap, rotor, coil, especially the ignition module and yes - ignition wires. I have been burned on MSD cap and rotor. Apparently the center conductor that contacts the rotor was too short and provided intermittent contact. Try to troubleshoot that. I know GM parts can be expensive but I think they are worth the price for a part that was designed by GM for GM.
