Fusible Link to Rad Fan

This is the second time I've burnt a fusible link to the rad fan on my 1986 Trans Am. The fan motor is new, about a year old. It seems to blow when it's 90+ degrees outside and I have the AC on. I also have a 180 thermostat on my 358sbc. Fan comes on at 195 and goes back off at 185 regardless of AC on or off. Is there any reason I keep burning through them other than bad luck? For now I'm just going to replace it and keep spare on me.

THE FAN DOES TURN ON (It's just not enough to keep this motor cool) What are my options moving forward?

Re: Fusible Link to Rad Fan

Do you have 10AWG or 12AWG Power and Ground Wires?

A 40A Fuse for a short run of 10AWG is fine.
