- Hello. I have an 86 5.0 iroc. Needa new sending unit and pump. I don't know any reference part numbers for ordering. Everything I find is different from the next. Help pointing me in the right direction would be great. Links appreciated as well.

Is your car TPI or carb? If TPI I'd go with the Delphi FE0110 or a reputable quality brand and for a sending unit I have the Spectra FG20A in my car, no complaints, and don't forget a new sock, Delphi FS0022. When I had to do my pump I used a AC Delco/Genuine GM one but Rock doesn't list it anymore. If your carb then look at the mechanical pumps, they are less money but they also have a separate pusher pump in tank IIRC and Rockauto only lists one, USEP3903, but it is unlikely you have a L69 HO carb as there were barely any built in 86'. One other idea is to purchase a new tank locally to have on hand as often on a car this old you could have corrosion in tank or discover exterior rust once removed. There is no point doing this labor intensive job twice when a new pump dies from picking up rust or debris in an old tank. I went with the Dorman tank on mine and fit wasn't bad for aftermarket and it is baffled like the factory tank, common issue w/ aftermarket tanks is the car will not take fuel as fast as before and mine was like that for a few months but then improved...also be sure to check the tank/neck for damage if you order one, the fuel neck is exposed and can get beat up which is why I recommend paying a little more locally rather than dealing with Rockauto on returns/warranty which can be terrible in my experience.Originally Posted by nkaiser81

It's a TPI. I'm only the 2nd owner. Bought the car when I was 19 with 58000 on ot. Now 74000 on it. Wierd thing is that the pump looks like the prior owner had issues and tried to solder som stuff on the inside of sending unit. And not sure if it is a used pump. Wiring looks odd. Could be me though.

That looks weird, I’d probly replace it too. It’s a shame as the rest doesn’t look bad from what I can see.Originally Posted by nkaiser81
