Ultimate 1/4 mile mods? looking for hi 11's - mid 12's
Ultimate 1/4 mile mods? looking for hi 11's - mid 12's
With a 92 z-28 or a 1990 iroc-z....how much cash am I gonna have to put into my 350 TPI engine to run some nice 1/4 miles? I understand the time relies on shifting too, but I am looking for some awesome acceleration and top speed. Anyone got any ideas on what type parts are best and/or pricing??? Any estimates and info is appreciated.

It all depends on how much you are willing to spend. To get into the 11's, it will take some serious cash. Best place to start would be headers and hi-flow exhaust. I recommend Random Technology Catback and SLP headers. That setup with a CarSound cat will run you about $1000 if you get the headers coated. Get an Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator and of course do all the free mods. Next you may have to start looking into new heads and cam or you could just put NOS on it if all you want is power at the track.
No nos, but the rest sounds good.
I am probably lookin to spend 3500-4k under the hood. Nos wont work as its gonna be my car for school as well...and I live in california. Plus my mom would kill me before the NOS did, lol.

Since you live in Cali, emissions will be a consideration, so the miniram is out. You can use a superram intake though. Check out the combo in my sig below, it should be good for mid 12's, although I have no times yet. AFR 190's=$1500, SR=$1100, LPE cam=$315 total comes to $2915. You'll also need a full exhaust, around 3.42 or so gears if you don't have them already, a higher stall torque converter, beef up you rearend per the articles on this site and eventually some suspension upgrades. And there are other mods that will be needed, but these are the basics. And don't expect your stock tranny to live long with this combo either.

And the right combo will cost major money. Plain and simple it costs cash to get that fast, stock parts start breaking when you put the kind of power that will run 11's on them.

low 12's high-mid 11's are possible for 4g's. doing it wile being emissions legal in ca is the tuff part. best bet, all forged 6"rod 350 or 383 and a lot of juice. still legal, still a daily driver but it's there when you want it. thats just motor, your going to need to beef up your trans (or get a built non OD unit for less). and the rear will probably give up the ghost around the same time . talk to the guys at speed-o-motive in they can get you in the right direction. i had a few friends that ran their kits in ca and said they were excellent. or plan 2, sell your car, get something clean that dosent need to be inspected (69-73 camaro, nova, fire chicken) and put the 4 grand and whats left over into that.
