how to completely remove emissions system?

the belt on my 87 350 already bypasses the emissions pulley.(I think my mechanic did it) There are no emissions laws in iowa, other than a cat. What parts are not running on my car now? What parts can I remove? The pulley itself probably. What about the canister in the front right of my car? What does it do anyway? I know it's a of questions, but the stuff probably isn't working anyways so I might as well lose the dead weight. Thanks for the help guys. I don't know where I'd be without this message board.

You can lose the pulley and AIR pump, but leave the EVAP canistor, it is venting the gas tank, you need it. Hope this helps

Transmission: T56 Magnum (Pending) / T5

my car does ok without the cannister. Other than an occasional gas smell, it doesn't seem to cause any problems. I'm probably going to put it back in this spring though.

On my IROC I yanked the air pump, and put non a.i.r. headers & cat on. It really cleaned up my engine bay.

Sometimes when I unscrew my gas cap, to fill it up, I hear a hissing noise (like fumes escaping) does that mean that my canister isn't working? Just wondering, probably a coinsidence.

I have eliminated the box too, i figured it was useless. I also hear a hissing sound when i unscrew my gas lid. Will this hurt me in the long run if i dont put it back on?

my gas cap does that too and my canister is still hooked up. so i guess that eliminates the idea that the canister takes care of that...

,.

Im pretty sure that when you unscrew the lid its just relieving the pressure in your tank. Thats why is usually says open SLOWLY on the cap. I havent taken anything out yet. Im doin all that when i do the exhaust.

I would, more room and other than the hissing from the tank (not sure if thats even the reason for it) theres been no problems whatsoever.

you're still talking about the coffee can looking canister right? I'll have a much better cold air setup with that thing out of the way.

there is no problem taking this stuff off the hissing noise is pressure in the tank nothing else...one question is what are the sensors that are in the black box above the air pump. are they still important?

My friend dropped a 350 in and put his TPI setup back on and he got rid of the air pump and the coolant block. I used to know what the box was for but it escapes me now. I am going to try to get rid of it because of the clutter. It is a PITA when you are setting the valves too.
