About 50 miles per 1/4 tank...88 tpi 350
Does this sound right or do I need some tuning or work on the motor pretty bad? It is more or less just a stock 88 tpi 350 w/ 110k (I think).
I have been wondering is too. I have a 90 formula 350 and i'm running the same,1/4 tank=50miles or so. There was topic about this maybe a month ago and people were saying it was bad but i know i get stuck in traffic alot and don't do alotta open highway driving. Like you wanna know everyone has to say

That's about 200 miles per tank. That's approx 19mpg. It's not the best but it could be worse. My 305 Tpi with 120,000 miles got 23mpg on the highway but when I racked up 200,000 miles on the engine I was getting about 14mpg. After I put my 355 in I was running the stock 305 chip and it was running rich but I was still getting 20mpg. I just installed my 350 Tpi Stage 2 Fastchip today so I don't know what my gas mileage will be now but it "should" go up.
My suggestion, new cap, rotor, plugs, wires, and definitely a new O2 sensor if it's original.
About the guys that say it's BAD. PROM tuning can get you much better gas mileage but for a stock chip 19-20mpg out of a 350 isn't bad, it could be alot worse.

Well, it could be worse plain and simple.
19mpg for mostly city traffic driving is not that bad at all.

That's about the mpg I get as well. And about that whole 13.5 and gasp! 12.6 mile crap, when was the last time you filled up with an EMPTY tank??? Never. With the extreme fuel slosh problems prevalent in our cars (up until the new tank design say 90ish), it's a good idea to fill up at about 1/4 tank to prevent unnecessary starvation of the fuel pump (which shortens life of a part VERY hard to get to part).

I usually fill up when I have 1/4 of a tank left. Been putting 93 in. I will probably change the oxygen sensor soon too. I guess all of the bad gas is burnt up now because I just got like 60 mpg per 1/4 tank last night, even let my crusing buddy drive it and he got all over it and I did some playing on the highway too. Guess crappy gas/low octane gas could of been causing the bad gas milage, guess I will just keep driving it and see if it stays the same or gets better.

my car all stock would get 160-220 miles on a tank depending on the mix of highway and city. I don't care what the tank capacity actually is, because you can run the car right down to E and fill up to the brim with 12 gallons. The gauges were extremely inaccurate, and there was some gas that you just weren't able to get back, because the pump would start pulling air and stall you out before you got it.
I pulled I guess 13.3 to 18.3, which I don't think is too horribly far off the mileages that were listed on the window sticker. I saw tanks as low as like 11mpg if i beat the ***** off it, and tanks in excess of 20mpg if i was real nice to it and it was all highway.
Then i got a supercharger
I'm going T56 in about a month's time, so that .50 top gear ought to get my highway mileage up to 20 again, at least with my stock 3.27's for the time being. I do intend to run some more gear when the money is there.
