LT1 intake swap guys, inside please
I have a few questions regarding the swap...
The MAP sensor. Where are you guys putting your sensors, and what are you doing about your old one? I figured I'd just get an old one and leave it in, unless I can use it somehow.
The port in front under the TB, looks like a vacuum port. What have you been doing with it? I have new fittings for the ports on the sides of the intake, what about this one?
PCV valve. Stock location in intake or plug and run another way?
EGR ports. Do they sell block-off plates or should I just fab one?
Dist. hold down bolt. Looks kind of thin, should a nut be brazed on the underside of the intake?
As for my distributor hole, I think mine may be off slightly but it still fits...I'll bolt it all together tomorrow and double check. How have you installed the spacer, w/2 gaskets, epoxy, weld, etc? I figured if I am off it is slight and I can correct it here. (getting machine shop to fab spacer)
I'm not too worried about how it looks since I'll be using 'Vette furl rail covers anyway, and painting it black.
Any help is appreciated, just got one chance to make everything right! I would look at the pics on the LT1intake.com website but I keep getting some bandwidth error.

Congrats on getting this close.
1)The MAP sensor mounts on top near the front. I used the one that came with my manifold, but our stock one will work also, with the right rubber grommet.
2)I blocked the front port with a brass pipe plug. No idea what it's for.
3)I made a plug for the large hole and used one of the smaller ones next to it for the PCV. I wasn't sure how the '95 PCV was hooked up, so I did it like my '88.
4)I made my own EGR block off plates.
5)For the dist. hold-down bolt, I threaded a stud into the block, ran a jam nut down it, and lock-tited the whole thing.
6)For the dist hole, you'll need the 8* spacer to get it to align properly, otherwise it will leak. I was going to build up the intake with the JB-Weld, but I found someone to machine a new spacer for me.
I hope that helps. Good luck.

OK, I figured how I'm going to do everything except the large hole...I think that's where the old PCV valve was located. I may try JB Weld over it. The new MAP sensor plugs into the harness, or does it take some modification/lengthening to do it?
The rest of the little holes are also going to be filled with JB weld and painted over.

I think that TB port is for EGR, I just blocked it and it runs fine. I was lucky enough to not have a MAP sensor either so I plugged that hole as well. As for the PCV loop, I ran the stock routing. Your not going to believe it, but to plug that big hole in your manifold you can use a Mopar master cylinder cap gasket. Don't ask me how I figured this out but it works great. Just take a look. Good luck with the swap.

This sounds pretty interesting. Would a holesaw work for drilling the distr. hole or does it have to be milled / counterbore? For the spacer, what have people been using?
Thanks,

The port under the TB was only used in some years on 4th gens...It was part of the PCV system. In some years the LT1 setup the PCV system like John Milican has it set up, in a loop, and in other years the PCV valve was hardpiped to a fitting under the TB. So you can not worry about that that port and plug it up and you can run the PCV valve the way 4thgens have it set up (in a loop) or your stock way and plug that gaping hole.

I miss understood you. I have a 327 I have been wanting to put an injection on. The LT1 intake is perfect. I probably will only gain maybe a .1 or .2 in the 1/4. I want to do it for drivability reasons.
It would be cool if everyone posted their performance increase/decrease. My junker w/ the LT1 won't be ready for a few months.

I'll be taking her to the dyno within the next 3-4 weeks for tuning if everything goes smoothly. You guys can look foward to that. There is going to be a heads and cam combo on there too but you'll still get an idea of the intake's difference.
