afpr, code 36, idle surging
afpr, code 36, idle surging
I'm having a idle surging problem right now and I'm sure its related to my code 36. The motor ran good with no idle surging or code 36 until recently when i ported the heads and intake. Since then I've been getting a surging problem. I've checked the relay which is okay, tps is set at .571 (this is strange, last fall i set it at .54), ecm is fine, fuel pressure set at 50lbs. I've been setting a code 36 lately too. Today I cleared the code, started it up, idle was spiking and as it dropped it set a code 36. Anyhow one thing I have noticed is it spikes until warm until I do one thing and that is unhook the vacuum at the plenum for the afpr. Then it idles fine. What gives?
Tomorrow I'm going to set the tps and iac. Trying to get it to run right before I start burning chips for it.

I would first get rid of the code, 36 is MAF burnoff relay so I would start by changing that. If the surging idle happened after the porting I would suspect a vacuum leak somewhere.
