Who wants do desktop dyno my new combo??

I would appreciate any help. I am trying to estimate the engine weaknesses before I assemble it. Could someone check what a roller cam would do??

406 cu in
AFR 190 heads (260 cfm at .500)
11 to 1 compression
LT1 intake
comp cams 292H hyd flat tappet (244 244 .501 .501 @ .050)110 lsa
30 lb injectors
1 5/8 headers

I can't think of what other info will be needed. Thanks

I assume that's 244 at .050"?? This is very important!

Definitely go with a roller cam. The difference between flat tappet and roller was more hp and extended torque/hp up top.

Ok, yes at .050. i wrote @.050. Also, yes I know a roller is better. Also the cam I have costs me zero and the roller will cost 700. How much better is the roller? I don't know. So if you have desktop dyno could you help out??

I'll plug them into Dyno2000 and get back to you.

Here's what mine showed. If you could get me the cam grind number I'll run it again cause DD doesn't seem to like some .050" cam specs.

(For other DD2K users) I said the LT1 Intake was a 600 cfm single plane. Is this a good estimate?

Ok, it is a comp cams 292H. Maybe this will help? Thanks guys!! Maybe throw in a hyd roller with the same duration and say .560 lift??

at .006 it is open intake 40 close 72
open exhaust 80 close 32

Yeah I thought it would be a little low.
Those Cam numbers are what I was looking for. I put that cam in as a roller and bumped the intake up to 900 cfm.

Edit:
This is the graph for the 406 with the Comp Cams 292H cam assuming that it had the same specs but was a roller with .56" lifts. With an LT1 intake flowing 900 Cfm.

here ya go. 700cfm and your cam.

Edit:
This is the 406 again with a Comp Cams 292H hydraulic cam with .501" lift. The intake is the LT1 flowing 700 cfm.

Alright here's what it said about your current combo. I wasn't sure about the cfm on the intake so if you have any ideas let me know. I also ran another one with the LT1 intake on your current configuration (cause well I'd be curious). The LT1 intake one has the diamonds on the curves.

Edit:
Both of these graphs are of a 350 running the SLP 51002 cam. In the TPI plot I had it set to TPI intake with 400 cfm. For the LT1 intake I had it set up as a single plane manifold flowing 700 cfm.

Thank you again. So that is telling me that my 350 with 9 to one compression and a tiny cam will make only 40 less HP than my new 406 with a large cam and 11 to one compression with the heads and intake the same?? Why should I bother with the 406?? Also, that LT1 intake on paper soundly beats the TPI one.

Ok. I went back through and labled everything so that everyone (and myself) would understand what the graphs were of. Yeah, the graphs show about a 40 HP difference. The difference is that the big cam is a hyraulic lifter cam and the other is a roller cam. If, in the 406 I magically turned the comp cam 292 into a roller the HP difference is 90. I'm not sure if this reflects a real difference between roller and hyraulic lifter cams or not. Maybe someone else could spread some light on this.

FYI lets say that you used the Bigger SLP cam, the 51010, (which is a little smaller than the Com Cam, but has larger lift on the exhaust) it shows a 99 HP difference.

It goes without saying that this is all theoretical and that it's probably different in the real world.

The SLP 51010 cam has an advertised duration of 280 I 288 E and a .050" duration of 224 I and 230 E. Lift is .502" I and .510" E. The Lobe seperation is 112.

This cam is also really close to the GM Hot Cam which has an advertised duration of 279 I and 287 E and a .050" duration of 218 I and 228 E. Lift is .525" I and .525" with 1.6 rockers.

I was comparing the Comp 292H hydraulic flat tapet cam against the SLP. If the Comp cam were a roller and had .560" lifts then they are about the same as far a HP goes but the SLP makes a bit more TQ down low.
