WOO HOO 700R4 is out!!!!!

hey all

i finally got the tranny 100% out on Saturday!!!!

if anyone ever tells you thats it too hard to do it in your own driveway on jackstands DONT LISTEN!

it took me from 12:00 to 5:00 to have it going from in the car to it being in a garbage can in my backyard lol

here's how i did it: top 2 bolts---from the engine bay with the tranny jacked up

bottom 2 bolts--- from underneath the car, pretty easy to reach

middle 2 bolts--- THESE WERE THE TIME KILLER... i spent a great deal of time trying to get these 2 out..........i finally got them out with just an ordinary box wrecnch

after that i jacked the trans up, cut the fluid lines and pulled off the cable and then pushed it down and out

not too bad, but lemme tell ya, its not too fun getting a couple of gallons of automatic trans fluid in hair thats down to your back

My 700R4 is going IN tomorrow! Had the T5 out in less then an hour. Not bad for doing it myself and taking my time Now putting a 700R4 in by myself wont easy at all. Damn... I dont even wanna think about it until tomorrow.

Took mine out last year in the driveway. Dropped the rear of the trans down, got access to all the bolts with 20" 3/8 extension & 9/16 swivel socket. Did alone in about an hour. Made a wood box to support & lift the trans with a floor jack. My buddy helped me get it back in place. Took about 30 mins. BTW get a cap from a trans shop to plug up the tailshaft, trans fluid ain't good for your hair (beauty tip)

cool

i tried using swivel and extensions but i couldnt seem to get them onto the bolts.................

oh well

i work at a car dealer and i could have used a lift there but i didnt feel like having to bother my supervisor

plus there real picky, like if i was to not have all the parts to put the T5 in and i had to leave the car outside

the T5 is only temporary until i can save enough cash for a T56

so this was i figured i can take my time at home and give myself a little bit of a challenge

After the above mentioned battle with those darn middle bolts.....I decided I wouldn't put the tranny in the same way. Of course I did the whole swap. Here are my pics from today! It took me exactly 1 hour and 45 minutes to remove the old block, pick up the new block, attach the tranny, and get it in the caar. Much easier to do those middle bolts when its out!
This is how you install a 700R4.....right behind a 500 hp 383 small block
