switching gears
im redoing my rear diff and i have a set of 3.23s laying around and i have 2.73s now in the car and i was wondering if it would be worth buying 3.42s when i already have the 3.23s. How much of a differance would there be between the two in performance at a 1/8 mile track and on the street? thanks alot
Since the 3.23's are free, I would use them. If you want a performance gain, then use that money towards a 9.5" torque converter. You can see a 2-5 tenths dropped off your ET with the right TC.
Just went from 2.73 to 3.23 this week. The 3.23 were just sitting around already on a posi. Great performace step. My spare rearend that I'm slowly bulletproofing will have 3.42.
Go for it those 2.73 need to go.

Consider the performance to price ratio.
2.73 --> 3.23 = moderate gain for free.
2.73 --> 3.42 = only a very slight advantage over the 3.23's but at a cost of at least $200.
Think about it that way.... no brainer.
