speedo gear seal change

Engine: 383 Stroker

Transmission: TH350

speedo gear seal change

When I change the speedo gear seal, will fluid spill out or not? It's leaking slowly now. Does this area leak when the car is just sitting, ignition off?

If the car is level only small amount will come out.

It's a TH 350. Can I change the seal out without removing the tailshaft?
