Hurst Dual Gate 2 owners - help please

did any of you have a problem with the shifter cable being too short? It seems that the cable wont let the shifter move back far enough to bolt down to the floor, what did you all do to correct this.

I had fitment problems like that too. I had to modify the shifter baseplate.

How did you modify it? I have this problem too. I've tried enlarging the hole the pin goes into on the metal pice that attaches to the cable, it still doesn't work right. I'm thinking of sending the shifter back and telling Hurst to shove it up their asses. It's obviously their manufacturing problem.

Yes it is too tight. I had a hell of a time getting it in there. I had to get a new cable. NO not a special one or a longer one just a new one. I also have a problem with the his side shifting. For some reason it doesn't ratchet shift the way I thought it would. That little piece in the middle doesn't like staying put either. It seems to want to go past the gears. I'm debating selling it on Ebay and getting a B&M like everyone else. That Hurst just doesn't have a good lock out or ratchet system.

I got a new cable too. It didn't help at all. I just enlarged the hole that the peg goes into on the little metal piece that connects to the cable (this metal piece is the problem). I wrapped some solid copper wire in the enlarged hole to keep the peg located in the right part of the enlarged hole. Seems to work "ok" right now. I'll see how reliable it is.

I fixed it by grinding the welds on the bracket that holds the cable. Then move it forward 3/4" and reweld it. Then you have to add to the cable link the same amount. It works right now but what a pain.
