I Need A New Transmission????

WELL I JUST GOT THIS CAR OF MY BROTHER AND I NEED A TRANSMISSION AND I DON'T KNOW IF I SHOULD STAY WHIT THE 700R4 THAT I HAVE OR IF I SHOULD GO WITH THE 350TURBO? I WAS ALSO THINKING ABOUT TRYING TO CONVERT INTO A MANUAL BUT I AM NOT SURE HOW HARD THAT WOULD BE OR HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST SO IF ANY BODY HAS ANY TIP'S OR SUGGESTIONS LET ME KNOW THANK'S

I would stay with the 700r4 or a T5 mainly because if I'm not mistaken the turbo350 doesn't have an OD, and the 700r4 is pretty much better. If you decide to stay with an auto and get a used 700r4, DON'T get any 700r4's from early years "84-89" mainly because the 700r4 improved over the years and got better, the earlier ones are crap, go for a later one.

Swaping from a automatic to a manual is pretty simple as long as you have the stuff required for the swap, I think there is a tech article... ah here it is:

https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/t...nualswap.shtml

That should tell ya everything you need for the swap.

Also you might be interested in a T56 manual tranny "came in 350's"

Exactly what does a transmission have to do with swapping engines? Moving to the appropriate forum. Please, take the time to actually read the forum name and description before posting.

ok the trans from 87 and on got better and um a 700r4 is better than a TH350? maybe for highway driving but for strenght and track use i'd go with a TH350 anyday

I love how a th700 plants your a$$ to the seat in 1st gear. OD is nice too. You'll be happier w/ a 700. Besides if you swap to a TH 350 you'll get a shorter 1st gear and closer spaced gear ratio's for all around driving but you'll lose OD and you have to get a different driveshaft. I believe the 350 is longer than a 700, or vice versa.

If you need a Street/Strip 700R4 (that will last, & comes with a one year warranty) then give me a call! 800 7763288 M-S 10-6 PST. If you get a chance, check out my web site at www.pro-built.net and you will see exactly what I do to these 700R4's. Let me know?
