The neutral safty switch and backup are confusing in figure 6 it shows with a relay and in the instructions it say purple, yellow for neutral and reverse blue, green. also for the front mounting screws wich I dont have the holes I drill are to big for any screws. I bought this used off of ebay after all the parts I have been buying I should of bought bran new. any help would be great thanks Timbo

I skipped the relay without any problems. Just hook the purple and yellow to the neutral switch and the blue and green to the reverse switch. Not sure what you are saying on the front screws--you drilled the holes and they are too big for any screw? You can always get a bigger screw. How about a bolt and an nut. This megashifter is for a 82-92 camaro/firebird, right?

Correct, ya i'll be going with the nut and bolt. I already bought the relay so I might as well use it. I did not know there was a choice to use or not. What about this trimming for the console anyone screw this up?

I do NOT understand... everybody that tries to put a Megashifter in has problems. The biggest problem is that they don't understand the directions.
WHY??
I don't see how they could've made the directions any more clear.
The relay drops the idle speed. The stock shifter has a switch built in to sense neutral/park. The computer will drop the idle when the shifter's in neutral/park. It raises the idle when you put the car in gear so the car doesn't stall. So without the relay, when you're in neutral/park, the idle will be a few hundred RPM higher.
[edit] No offense meant to anyone, of course. I just can't see how if my dumbass could follow/understand the directions, why everyone else has problems.

Well, I installed one but havnt drove it yet. I bought mine used also. It didnt come with instructions, or the cable. I modified it to work with the stock cable. It shifts fine, but the motor is not in so I cant test it out. My main problem was after I downloaded and printed out the instructions, I was confused when looking at the wiring on the diagram. What I was not sure of was the four pins on the shifter. I didnt know which way it was showing them from. I did use the relay, but my luck when I get the car going again it will only start in reverse, and the reverse lights will be on in park and neutral.

hey Ben, I will be putting my shifter in Tues. Ive heard that the cable that comes with the shifter is bunk...what did you have to do to use the stock cable....

Well, I cut the piece off of the stock shifter that the cable went through and drilled hole in the b&m and two holes in the piece I cut off. I bolted it together with the new holes and the hole for the origional shifer. I can look at it again later and figure out in more detail what I did. I might try to take a pic, but the camera I have is kind of crappy so I dont know how it would turn out.
