Why do i have a factory posi and 3.27 gears?

I thought there were no factory posi or 3.27's on 350 cars. I have rpo codes GW6 and G80. Someone please clear this up for me.
Thanks
John

Doesn't say anything specifically about the posi, but the tech data (https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/techdb.shtml) indicates 3.27 9-bolts were the only thing available with the 5.7.

Oh ok, I thought 2.77 was the steepest any of our cars had from the factory, now lets tackle the posi.

All 9 bolts were a heavy duty Borg-Warner rear end and only available for a few years. They are all limited slip differentials and most are 3.27 ratios.

my 89 Iroc is a 9 bolt i was told it was an aussi rearend, but i always thought mine was 2.77 cuz if im not mistaken thats what was standard on the Iroc's in 89.....anyways if my car is posi then its not working (only leaves one blackmark ) but when me and my friend tested the rearend to see if it was posi we jacked it up and he turned the passenger side wheel manualy and the driver's side wheel spun in the opposite direction, doesent that mean that its not posi?? or if my posi is out or broken will it do that anyways?? -Don

If the posi is broke the other wheel will turn in the opposite direction. A posi should turn both wheels in the same direction. I believe all 350 cars came with the 3.27 gear if it had the 9 bolt.

alright well i just got done driving my car, and somone told me that you can find out what gears you have by going 70mph and put your car in drive and what ever your tach reads is the first 2 numbers in your rear gears and i was taching just under 3000 rpm's at 70mph in Drive, does this really work? cause if it does i would say i have 2.77 gears my friend put a posi in his 91 RS 3.23 gears and he was taching right around 3200 rpms -Don

I have a 3.27 posi in my 87 that works good. Side to side all the time My 89 has a blown posi but if I jack it up the wheels spin the same way. I had an 83 that worked perfect but I noticed if the car was in park the wheels would spin oposite but in neutral they would spin same way. Make sure your car is in neutral when you check for posi.

OK, your right. My bad. "87 the only gear available was 3.27. But after that 2.77 was standard and 3.27 was the G92 option, I stand corrected.

NEED HELP!!!

While working on my car I have been continually running into problems. I am way behind schedule and need some help!

Would anyone in the naperville area be willing to help me finish up my car?? I have to finish the following...

Replace distributer gear,
Reassemble intake manifold-injectors-runners-plenume-throttle body,
install LCA and panhard.

These are my plans for Sunday afternoon. Can anyone help me so that I can get my car on the road to eat ricers?
