Mobil 1 ATF - Is it Crap ???
I put this stuff in my tranny about 3 months ago and ever since it slips going into gears!!!!!!! WTF!!!!! My tranny was PERFECT before the switch, I could damn near chirp it into 3rd!!!!!!
Is this Mobil 1 ATF total crap or what?????
I just bought some Royal Purple ATF but is it too late to save my tranny from the damage that the ****ty Mobil 1 did????

all i use is mobil1 without any problems, in manuals and autos, even the race car is full of it, maybe you have other problems and it's not the oil you're running

Pro Built doesn't like the Mobil 1 ATF based on test data and experience.
I know a guy out here that went through 2 TH400's and a 'Glide last season using it (it's a high 10-sec big block '83 Monte, that may have something to do with it).
AMSOIL, Redline seem to be the preferred synthetic ATFs. I haven't heard enough about Royal Purple to say anything about it.

IROCZ88, 5.7kid did not say Mobil ATF he said "Mobil 1" full syn ATF is what Danna doesent like.
92GTA, If you serviced the transmission when you swiched oil it's quite possible the filter was installed incorrectly or the filter housing is cracked. That would cause the problems your having.

The only thing I picked up from switching to synthetic ATF was a leak (Kinda of expected that), outside of that no problems.
BTW: Been leaking for about 15,000 miles now (*ucking no room to work under a Vette !!!).
Now that I think about it, I might address that this weekend ?

One of the rules in my house is, "If you have something good, share it." I have some good information, and I'm sharing it.
I'm so brand-specific and bent on putting down other oils, however, that I mentioned a couple of other brands. Shame on me.
ronterry, what brand did you switch to? Any idea where your leak is? Was the leak a result of the act of switching, or what was put in? I have 5 vehicles with AMSOIL ATF in them, and they don't leak. One of the Bonnevilles leaked at first, turned out to be loose converter cover bolts left that way by the rebuilder used by the previous owner. Hardly a result of using synthetic.

Amsoil is really good atf, just too expensive for me. A case of regular mobil is only $20 and Dana claims it's good ****. I think Amsoil is around $75 for 2.5 gallons. OUCH!!!!

It was Mobile One. I'm now using durablend.
I swear the day after it started leaking around where the VSS is.
Not ruling anything out, it could be the pan from the change. But I changed the oil since, and the same amount leaks. It's not a big leak, but over a month it leaks about a cup or so.

Amsoil useually runs (from what I have seen and our prices at work) about $1 higher per quart. For me that isn't enough to whine and cry about when I am already spending so much on oil anyways.
