Tranny 700R4, do It myself, Or pay??
I bought a 91 camaro RS v6 auto, belive it is a 700R4. Finally got the car running/breaking right today so I could take it for a spin. 1 and 2 Gear works great, think 3 is missing, and OD (4) seems to slip very bad. I have to rev engine to about 4500 rpm for it to kick in, then to go about 50 mph I have to redline the engine. So should I pay to have it rebuit, or I have been told buy many that this is about the easiest tranny to rebuild. Any suggestions are highly welcome. Thanks

Will the tv cable make that much of a difference?? Also so basically I need to pay the 700-1000 to have it rebuilt?
The TV cable is what controls the shifting of the trans, yes it will make a big diff. The 700R4 is about the most complex trans GM makes, there are a bunch of special tools you'd need to buy or fabricate to do the rebuild.

Actually...the 700R4 is a rather easy trans to rebuild. Not so much difficult as it is time consuming. I say go for it. How ya gonna learn unless you try it?

Ok, went to adjust the TV cable, like posted in a msg last week. I went to make the tb go WOT, and the tv cable is what was keeping it WOT, and the plastic end on it BROKE
So I tryed calling some parts stores, they have never heard of a TV cable. So whats the real name of this so I can replace it and put it on their before taking to a tranny shop if needed?

It is called the Throttle Valve cable. If they don't know that term try asking for the "kick down" cable for a 700R4, that is not the right name or function of the cable but that might be what they stock it under.

Ugh, ok, Its name buy gm's terms is "kick down cable" part# 25521266, cost 17.54, BUT ITS SPECIAL ORDER, this blows. And I registered for gmpartsdirect.com cause its cheaper on their, but for some reason the website wont fill my shopping cart??? Plus all the other local parts stores, its still special order. This blows, planned on putting it on, on the 4th. But... NOOOOOOOO

HAHA, After 2 hours of off n on searching, my friend at the parts store came up with the cable. Used the oem part # and ALOT of books and a phone call, but I GOT IT!!! I turned my breakbooster core charge in, and 3 more bucks and it was ALL MINE!!!. Now, top looks very easy, how hard is the other end of the cable, and where does it hook up to on the tranny, looks kinda short to me?? The tranny side is a pain in the a$$!!. If you look at the tranny side of the cable you will notice a flattened tear drop Piece of metal like a fishing line sinker with a hole drilled through it.
and the flat plastic base with a hole for a small bolt
and the rubber seal aroung the small 1/2" or so tube that sticks out.
You have to unbolt the original cable
pull it up and disconnect the hook like bit that goes through the Sinker like piece
Installation is the hard part because the new cable is stiff and doesn't want to go in straight and the hook usually doesn't want to stay in the hole in the sinker. next pain is getting the bolt started.
It's easier to leave the other end not connected to the throttle till you get the tranny side squared away.
