Auto--> T-5 Swap hard shift
Okay guys, I have an 87 IROC, I just swapped in a T-5 in place of the old 700R4. Now I have aproblem. Before I mated the tranny to the engine I could shift gears just fine. Not a problem. slid in and out like a charm. Now though, I can BARELY shift between 1-2 and it won't even find neutral to go to any of the other gears. My question is this, the pilot bearing I used fit into the crankshaft but I had to pound it in. As I hit it I noticed small dents surfacing so I stopped and left it probably more than halfway out of the tranny. My brothe rin law said to go ahead and leave it out, that as I tighting the tranny onto the engine the input shaft will push it into the crankshaft. Is this the case? As I've been reading the posts relating to the issue I've come up with A.) The Pilot bushing is binding straight up against the input shaft where it starts to taper, locking it with a half turned spline so shifting out of gear is almost impossible Or B.) My clutch setup isnt' working. Now People tell me thatI should be able to shift the tranny out of gear without a problem even if the clutch is fully engaged (transmission spinning with engine) and from what I see with other peoples cars this is the case. Is my assumption correct with the pilot bushing? I'd love to hear all of your thoughts on the matter! Thanks in advance

Okay, So I pulled out the transmission, and with it out the input shaft moves perfectly BUT the transmission will still only shift into 1st or 2nd. I can't get neutral or any other gears. Regardless of what I do. What could be wrong here? I'm trying to see if it'd be cheaper to find the problem and fix it or just to buy another T-5 Please give me some ideas. Thanks
If you had to pound in the pilot bearing, then it must have been going in really hard. Maybe when you bolted the transmission down to the bellhousing it put ALOT of pressure on the input shaft, thus messing something up inside the tranny???
