Help: Clutch Bleeding.....
Help: Clutch Bleeding.....
OK...all new system so it was completely air bound.....well after like 45 min and 2 brake fluid bottles there is still no difference....ttf.....how you do u bleed the clutch and how long did it take....yea i did a search and tryed some of the methods....
the system is so simple it's hard to believe how hard it is to get the air out. i bought a phenoix injector set for around a 100 dollars that forces fluid into the system. i reverse bled it, or put the fluid in from the bottom and forced air out the top. i also use a stearing wheel jack to hold the clutch pedal 1/4 and 1/2 way down. i tried letting it gravity bleed, filling everything with fluid as best i could, and the more convential pumping the pedal and nothing worked untill i preasure bled it.
banged up
Ok, i have the clutch bled to the point of where it will ALMOST disengage....almost..but it will let me get into gear while up in the air with lots of force...but on teh ground....well...it won't. Just keep bleeding it....i have been for 4 hours...it blows....does any place rent a pressure bleeder so i can push the **** in from the bottom?
Does anyone know of a place that i can drive it to, to get them to do it...b/c if i get it driveable i will take it somewhere to get bled....a chevy dealer.....? i have a friend that works there.

K. try this...
1: Open the bleeder.
2: Push the slave cylinder plunger in until it bottoms out, and hold it there.
3: Close the bleeder.
4: Repeat a few times.
The slave acts like a syringe and pumps the fluid out. Sometimes air bubbles will form on the inside of the slave. They wont move until the plunger scrapes them off. This wont happen just by pumping the master because that doesnt cause full travel of the slave cylinder.
You think these things are hard to bleed try a 2 ton truck with the booster underneath. Nearly impossible without doing this trick to all the wheel cylinders(2 per wheel) Even with a pressure bleeder.

ok will do.....it maybe it....worth a shot....i got my friend to come over after work and we bled it for another 1/2 hour....we both know how to bleed them b/c i have done one before and we just did his S10....and he pushed it all the way down and let it come all the way back up...b/c he knows that is important b/c the ppl that he used to work on his truck before i got there were probably not doing that and it was not gettn bled right....ne way....so it has no play...as soon as you touch the clutch pedal the slave moves....so i cut about 3/4 of an inch off the bolt that holds the master cyl in to give the pedal more movment and it still acts the same.....could it be in the shifter??? How about too much ATF in the trans?

I always gravity bleed 'em as GM says..
Some of them are kinda a PITA..
Your suposed to hold it at a 45` angle when you bleed it btw..
Some people leave it bolted to the bellhousing. mistake.

how can you hold it at a 45 degree angle and pump the clutch...it blows apart the slave cyl....well....after 5 hours of bleeding and adding a spacer...i can drive the car...but the clutch it just barly hanging on....so i am gonna try to find a place to pressure bleed it....anything i should know?

You didn't read my post.
GM specificly says to GRAVITY BLEED THEM. They do not give any procedure to pump them, as many people mistakenly do.
You hold the slave cyl at an angle, and open the screw. Fluid and air will come out.. after a bit, close it. Refil, do it again, and two or three more times. Then bolt it up and check for pedal feel.

i sure tried the gravity method, for over a month. parts hanging from the line, parts bolted up, you name it i tried it. nothing worked. if there's a secret to it i'd like to know. damn thing set for several months with bleeder screw open and nothing happened.

Here's the way I bled the T56 slave on my car which has no bleeder.
1) Unbolt the slave from the tranny
2) Hold the slave at a 45* angle with the ground with the hose pointing UP (the T56 slave has a 90* fitting on the end)
3) Repeatedly pump the SLAVE cylinder pushrod in and out of the slave cylinder. Make sure to bottom it on each stroke.
4) Check fluid level, rinse, repeat.
5) Reattach slave to tranny and check clutch.

 It worked for me, more than once. Either you're doing something wrong or there's something wrong with your setup. I can certainly sympathize if you're getting tired of screwing with it though.
