Who makes good stock clutch assemblies?

I'm looking to replace the pressure plate and clutch disk in my '84 T/A- stock 305 setup. Any name-brands out there I can look at? Or would I be best off just going to the dealer for them?

I've heard that Ram makes some good clutches. I got a stock replacement Ram clutch set, it was $149 at summit. I put it on last night, but I don't have the transmission in yet, so I can't tell you how they are, but they look like good quality. Also, if at all possible avoid getting anything from the dealership. They are overpriced and besides you can get the same thing from summit or someplace that is aimed at performance and is usually cheaper.

Well the dealer would be my last choice too- but I'm looking for a good quality stock replacment clutch set. I'd rather not spend the money on a performance clutch for a stock setup. I didn't know who makes a direct replacment set. and I wanted to be able to go into the parts store asking for a specific name brand, rather than taking whatever offbrand sets they do have.

I've used Ram, Centerforce, Borg-Warner, Hays, McLeod, and a few others over the years. Every single one was a direct fit, and every one worked great when installed properly. I have a Centerforce Dual Friction right now, I really like it.

I would not even bother with the dealer. There are things that should be gotten there, and things that should come from somewhere else; clutches are in the latter category.

clutches

the centerforce dual friction is a great piece but at 270 it won't fit your criteria

they make two other lowercost ones that should handle a 305 just fine, check out jegs and summit
